Quakers, known formally as The Religious Society of Friends, is a recognised Christian denomination. We seek to be led by the Spirit and we find we do not need any formal creeds or statements of belief. We are a diverse group from around the greater Wellington area. We meet for worship and fellowshi

We warmly invite anyone to spend time with us in any of these ways and look forward to meeting you! Please visit our website for more details of activities, times and locations.

At Yearly Meeting 2023, we accepted the statment Walking in the light under the rainbow. This statement reaffirms our commitment as an inclusive spiritual community, welcoming all irrespective of sexual orientation or gender identity. As we came out of the session that accepted the statement we were greeted by a double rainbow!

Quakerism in Aotearoa/New Zealand is Christian in its origin and inspiration, but is open to ideas and values from other forms of religious expression. We believe that everyone is capable of direct personal experience of what we describe as the Spirit, the Inner Light, or "that of God".

Do you support Te Tiriti? 'We support Te Tiriti' is a simple initiative, first developed by Peace Movement Aotearoa and the Quaker Treaty Relationships Group in 2015 to mark the 175th anniversary of the signing of Te Tiriti at Waitangi, as an easy way for you, your family, friends, colleagues and any organisation you are involved with to show your support for Te Tiriti each year - please help to publicise this initiative by sharing this post on your page or web site.

As well as sharing this post, you could print the photo (or the pdf version athttp://www.converge.org.nz/pma/WeSupportTeTiriti.pdf ) or make your own poster to display in your office, your church, your school, your house, and / or your car on Waitangi Day ... or everyday! 'I support Te Tiriti' and 'Quakers support Te Tiriti' images are available in the comments section below, with a link to the relevant A4 poster.

If you would like to share a photo of your support for the Te Tiriti, please post it below or email to Peace Movement Aotearoa - [email protected] - with a note saying where the photo was taken and who took it so the photo can be credited, thank you.
