Good news! To make things a little easier amid all the assignments, we're extending the writing competition deadline by a week — it now closes Sun 27 September.

And in case you were wondering: you don't have to be religious to enter. Some of the best writing about spiritual experience comes from outside religion…

Full details & entry form is at

What does faith feel like from the inside? Sikh, Buddhist, Christian, Shia, atheist, or in between — tell your story in 2500 words or less. $500 first prize

What's it like to be Sikh, Buddhist, Christian, Shia, etc?
What was it like to convert?
Did you ever meet an atua?

'Religious experience' is the theme of this year's Chaplaincy VUW Writing Competition. Entries close 20 September, and our chief judge is Prof Paul Morris.
