Tangi mapu kau ana te iwi Māori i ngā mate nui o te wā. Ko Tā Tamati Reedy tērā, ko Tā Hirini Moko Mead tērā, ko kui Tārati Buckley tērā, ko te rangatira o Ngāti Raukawa, a Ahorangi Whatarangi Winiata tērā kua riro ki te pō.

Te ao Māori is once again at a loss with the passing of Emeritus Professor Whatarangi Winiata (Ngāti Raukawa).

He is well known for his dedication and tireless work in revitalising te reo Māori within his iwi of Ngāti Raukawa, setting up the 25-year Whakatupuranga Rua Mano (Generation 2000) strategy which helped in setting up initiatives to boost Māori development within the iwi.

He founded Te Wānanga o Raukawa in Ōtaki, the first tertiary provider in Aotearoa run by-Māori, for-Māori.

He was also an important figure in the establishment of the Māori Party in 2004, serving as the party’s first President.

This notice is to inform the motu that, as of this afternoon, Whatarangi Winiata has taken his final breath in this world of the living and begun his journey to join his loved ones. At this time, we share this announcement simply to notify the motu of his passing. Further details regarding his tangihanga will be released tomorrow. We kindly ask that tonight and tomorrow, day and evening, be for his whānau as we grieve and come together to mourn our loss.

We were excited to visit Mystery Creek recently to see Fieldays 2026 coming together 👀

It was a real pleasure to meet with some of the Fieldays team to talk about what we can expect to see when it all kicks off on 10 June. Fieldays is the Southern Hemisphere’s largest agricultural event, and this celebrates its 58th year 🎉

This will be our first time with a stand, and we can't wait to meet the other 100,000 people who will be at Mystery Creek over the four days 🌱

It's that time of year again! 🥳

Tax certificates for the year ending 31 March 2026 are being sent out to owners and whānau trusts by email or post ✨

Each year, around May, if you're an owner or whānau trust in whenua we administer, you’ll receive a tax certificate from us. This certificate tells you how much distributable income you received or were owed, and the management fee on this income.

It also shows you how much tax has been withheld and paid to Inland Revenue on your behalf. If you have distributable income we're required to send you a tax certificate.

If you don't receive a tax certificate from us within the next two weeks, it could be that we don't have your current address or contact details. You can update your contact details here, or by calling us on 0800 WHENUA (0800 943 682) and speaking to one of our Client Services team.
