Meet Riley, a 23-year-old youth worker making a real difference in our community.
Riley runs the Karori Youth Centre (KYC) at the Karori Community Centre, offering a safe, welcoming space for young people aged 10-18 to gather, learn, and grow.
Riley's work often supports young people facing challenges such as financial hardship, neglect, or lack of support networks.
The youth centre offers more than a hangoutโitโs a place where hungry kids can get a meal, isolated youth can find connection, and those struggling can access support.

The Karori Youth Centre relies heavily on volunteers and Riley is the only paid youth workerโan immense task to shoulder alone. Hereโs how you can support:

๐ฎ๏ธ) ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ฎ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป๐ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ผ๐ผ๐ฑ๐: Board games, sports equipment, food, or furnishings can make a big difference.
๐ฏ๏ธ) ๐ฉ๐ผ๐น๐๐ป๐๐ฒ๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ฌ๐ผ๐๐ฟ ๐ง๐ถ๐บ๐ฒ: If youโre passionate, energetic, and want to make a difference, KYC would love more youth leaders to join their team. Full training provided!
๐ง๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฉ๐ถ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป: With enough funding, Riley dreams of employing three full-time youth workers who split their time between schools and the youth centre.
This would increase leadership opportunities, expand support networks, and reduce reliance on volunteersโall while building a stronger, brighter future for Karoriโs youth.
