Lots of our Scope participants have read his books over the years, and he'll be unpacking his new one, 'A Gospel for All Ages'. Chris impacted the lives of countless young people, youth workers and church leaders for almost 20 years working for the diocese, as he encouraged churches to prioritise their ministry with young people.
The legacy he leaves behind him is hugely significant in the life of our Anglican Church, and we are so grateful for his support and encouragement of us over the years. Please join us in praying for his family and friends ❤️

A treasured friend and colleague to many, Chris Casey died last week after battling cancer. We know that so many in our Diocese and beyond were impacted by Chris’s life and ministry over almost 20 years, and so we wanted to offer some reflections and stories from some of those who worked closely w...

We're looking forward to taking part in one of the first Scripture Union WAY2GO regional events in Waikanae next weekend, and encourage you to see if one of the 12 other locations is near you. They will be exploring four big topics: connected to God, connected to God's story, connected to family, connected to others.

How we get ashes for Ash Wednesday.

It's easy to jump in and try to reason with our kids when they don't handle something well or need to learn something. But we know some things about the brain here that can really help you to stay connected with your child AND help them learn better.

I talk about it using the Brain Stoplight metaphor.

First we need to Regulate. We need to connect and get out of the red light state (my language) or our survival brain.

Then we need to connect in the emotional space. "It makes sense why you reacted that way. I'm sorry. I didn't know you were having a hard time..." The point is to connect. This is the yellow light or the emotional brain. We need to speak to that next.

And then, and only then, are you and your child back to green light and can reason.

Regulate.
Relate.
Reason.

In that order.

This is how our brains work and how our children's brains work. Work with these ideas and see how it transforms your family's conflicts. Works for partners, too!
