"Ebrahim Raisi, the President of the Islamic Republic, infamously dubbed as the “Butcher of Tehran,” has found to be dead following a helicopter crash in northwest Iran.

Ebrahim Raisi, notorious for his role in the 1988 Death Commission under then-Supreme Leader Ruhollah Khomeini, oversaw the ex*****on of at least 4,500-5,000 political prisoners, consigning them to unmarked mass graves.

In March 2019, Raisi ascended to the position of judiciary chief under Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, laying the groundwork for his virtually uncontested presidential bid in 2021.

Throughout his presidential tenure, Raisi rigorously enforced Iran's compulsory hijab laws. In July 2022, his call for stricter enforcement preceded the tragic death of (Jina) who perished in state custody for alleged hijab violations. Despite pushbacks from the people, Raisi pressed for harsher penalties for those not adhering to hijab laws, on what amounts to .

Under Raisi's presidency, Iran witnessed a surge in state repression and violence against peaceful dissent, marked by increased ex*****ons and arbitrary arrests of protesters. As the number of lives lost to Israeli bombs goes over 10,000 today, remember each had loved someone, had friends, birthday parties, hopes for the future- People are so sad they're gone. Calling for ceasefire is not complex but the NZ Gov hasn't done it yet.
Please call, email and meet with National MPs, or the PM-in waiting. Let them know how powerful it would be to stand on the right side of history. For every life we save by standing for lasting peace.

Israeli forces have shown a shocking disregard for civilian lives. They have pulverized street after street of residential buildings killing civilians on a mass scale and destroying essential infrastructure.”

We stand with Palestine because to look away now is unconscionable. The two million ordinary people trapped in the ethnic cleansing of Gaza look to us as a global community. They deserve dignity, security, free from occupation, violence, or the thirst and hunger of being cut off from aid. The Israeli leaders ordering this heinous atrocity are criminals. These are crimes against humanity, war crimes, and as others have pointed out, increasingly look like genocide. Acknowledging this now and acting to stop the atrocities against the Palestinian people also acknowledges the vast and unwavering voice of Jewish communities all over the world who have stood against Israeli Government atrocity crimes for years- including the voices of victim communities in Hamas' most recent disciple attack on Israeli civilians. They have said: not in our name. Now the international community must show courage to intervene.
