This Sunday we’re continuing to join Baptists around the world in learning from the very first church in Acts 2:42-47. He Haruru Nui: Acts 2 Movement is an invitation for churches like us to embrace discipleship patterned after the early church as we look ahead to the 2,000 year celebration of the gospel in 2033. Our kids and JYG are sharing the journey in their programmes.

We’re gathering for worship at Boulcott St and online. Service starts at 10am, with hot drinks served from 9:45am. Free carparking available at 39 Boulcott St. Nau mai, everyone is welcome here at Central.

Thriving in this Land' is a workshop series created by Common Grace Aotearoa. It's designed to help us connect the dots between following Jesus and some of the big issues New Zealand faces. The workshop helps us engage with theology and discuss how to work towards a nation where everyone has enough, our earth is protected, and our promises are kept. This Sunday we’re kicking off a new preaching series, joining Baptists around the world in learning from the very first church in Acts 2:42–47. The “Acts 2 Movement” is an invitation for churches like us to embrace discipleship patterned after the early church as we look ahead to the 2,000 year celebration of the gospel in 2033. In New Zealand we’re calling it He Haruru Nui: “the great sound”, after the sound of the Spirit arriving at Pentecost. Our kids and JYG are already taking this up in their programmes.

We’re gathering for worship at Boulcott St and online. Service starts at 10am, with hot drinks served from 9:45am. Free carparking available at 39 Boulcott St. Nau mai, everyone is welcome here at Central. The AGM is taking place after the service, starting with a shared lunch.

Our church AGM is coming up this Sunday. For all who call Central their church, we welcome you to join our shared lunch and for the meeting. We’ll be discussing the 2025 Annual Report, receiving the 2025 finance report, welcoming a large group of people into membership (!!), and voting for the re-election of Deacons. We’d also like to begin our next phase of discussing the future of our buildings (46 Boulcott St, 327 and 331 Willis St) by presenting updates and an idea for your feedback and input. A Zoom link has been shared in the recent three@3 emails for those needing to attend remotely.

This weekend it’s Pentecost Sunday, the day we celebrate Jesus sending the gift of the Holy Spirit and giving birth to the church. This is what it means for us to say Jesus is with us, even when we cannot see him: by the Spirit, Jesus is here in our midst. Not only that, but by filling us with the Spirit, Jesus has enabled us to be with him in God’s presence: by the Spirit, we now participate in the life of God!

tonight it’s week three of the short course, “Engaging Theology.” We’ll be exploring what Christians believe about salvation, with further sessions to come on the Holy Spirit and being human. Everyone is welcome and you don’t need to have attended any previous sessions.
