📢 WOKE CHURCHES EXPOSED
– NZ’S LATEST INFESTATION

We have Woke News, Woke Politicians, Woke Police, Woke Councils, Woke Schools, Woke Businesses—and now, thanks to today’s press release from 17 church leaders, we can officially add Woke Churches to the list.

Their statement, issued by a handful of compromised clergy and sent only to media, gave us a good laugh when Stuff sent us a copy. These so-called church leaders have plenty of time to condemn Destiny Church—but zero concern for R18+ adult entertainers performing for children.

🤣 Even more laughable, their own press release openly admits that their pro-LGBT stance is “rare among the wider Christian church”—yet they still have the audacity to claim that 'Brian Tamaki' is the one who is 'misinformed', 'misleading', and 'anti-woke'.

Well, here’s a newsflash:
💡 Churches SHOULD be anti-woke!

The Bible is crystal clear: 1 Timothy 4:1 warns of those who abandon the faith and follow “doctrines of demons.” These fake churches have turned their backs on Biblical truth, exchanging it for the applause of the world.

Instead of standing for righteousness, they proudly stand in solidarity with LGBTQ activism while ignoring the sexualisation of children. That alone should put everyone on notice to steer well clear of them.

Here’s your official list of Woke Churches:

1. Stu McGregor, Minister Cityside Baptist
2. Dr Michael Frost, In the Shift; Edge Kingsland
3. Rev Dr Wayne Te Kaawa, St John’s Theological College
4. Rev Richard Bonifant, Vicar, St Matthew-in-the-City, Auckland
5. Associate Professor Emily Colgan, Trinity Theological College
6. Te Aroha Rountree, President, Methodist Church of New Zealand
7. Dr Nicola Hoggard Creegan
8. Rev Brenda Rockell, Vicar, St John’s Anglican Church, Royal Oak
9. Dr Michael Mawson, University of Auckland
10. Rev Petra Zaleski, Lead Chaplain, University of Auckland
11. Rev Prince Devanandan, All Saints Church Ponsonby
12. Debbie Spackman, Te Atatū Baptist
13. Rev Claire Barrie, Vicar, St Luke’s Anglican Church
14. Rev Glynn Cardy, Vicar, St Luke’s Anglican Church
15. Rev Wilson Zi En Chan, Te Mīhana Māori
16. Dr Jaimee van Gemerden, Metanoia
17. Dr Andrew Clark-Howard, Metanoia

And media—please, spare us the “expert” commentary from Professor Peter Lineham. We get it. He’s gay. But we’re pretty sure the Bible, not Lineham, defines what a real church is.

“Love acts”.❤️ Tēnā koe Te Aroha. I think this might be the first time a Methodist President has made such a strong statement in support of our rainbow communities.

This afternoon Nan and I attended an important kōrero by Seuta’afili Dr Patrick Thomsen on Manalagi - The Church and Pacific Rainbow+ Individuals in Aotearoa New Zealand. A wonderful conversation that needs to continue.

This looks like a useful survey.

The Safe Faiths Survey is open from today! Link in bio.

This survey is open to all people of faith over the age of 16 in Aotearoa New Zealand who attend Christian faith community gatherings, would like to attend Christian faith community gatherings, or who choose not to attend such gatherings.

The results of this survey will be used to raise awareness of issues faced by Takatāpui / Rainbow people of faith in Aotearoa New Zealand and to support Takatāpui / Rainbow advocacy work, both within the church and more widely.

Some good news.

For two years, the Western Bay of Plenty Parish has been sponsoring the Tauranga Moana Pride Festival. It is a partnership that is proving to be successful for the Rainbow community and for a parish that prides itself on practising a prophetic and loving vision for inclusion.

So many brave people to be thankful for.💝

Today we celebrate the tireless work of rainbow advocates who fought for marriage equality in Aotearoa.

A decade ago today, the New Zealand Parliament passed the Marriage (Definition of Marriage) Amendment Act. The bill was introduced by takatāpui Labour MP Louisa Wall, and received overwhelming support at its final reading on 17 April 2013. The law came into force two days later, on 19 April 2019, and the first same-sex marriages took place in August 2013.

While this was a milestone for rainbow rights in Aotearoa, there is still so much work to do. OutLine continues to advocate for an Aotearoa where all rainbow people feel safe and supported to be themselves, and to love who they love.

Navigating relationships as a rainbow person can be challenging, especially when friends, whānau or co-workers are unsupportive. If you need to talk, OutLine provides free and confidential phone and online chat support services. Both services are available every day from 6-9pm at 0800 OUTLINE or https://outline.org.nz/chat

OutLine also provides a rainbow specialist counselling service, to help you navigate relationship issues in a supportive environment. To learn more and to make a referral, visit https://outline.org.nz/counselling/

"Truly he taught us
to love one another.
His law is love
and his gospel is peace.
Chains shall he break
for the slave is our brother;
And in his name
all oppression shall cease."
