HANDS THAT GIVE
What you place in another’s hands, you place in Mine.
“My child, when you see someone in need, do not look away and wait for another person to respond. Pause long enough to see them as I see them.
The hungry person is not an inconvenience. The lonely person is not an interruption. The weary mother, the struggling father, the forgotten elderly neighbor, and the frightened child are precious souls known personally by Me. Whatever you do for one of the least of these, you do for Me. (Matthew 25:35–40)
Generosity begins when compassion moves from your heart into your hands.
You may believe you have too little to make a difference. Remember the boy who placed five loaves and two fishes into My hands. His offering could not feed the multitude by itself, but once surrendered to Me, it became enough—and more than enough. (John 6:5–13)
Do not measure your ability to help only by what you possess. Place what you have in My hands and let Me multiply its influence.
A small meal can carry great love.
A few dollars can answer a prayer.
An hour of service can restore hope.
A listening ear can lighten grief.
A sincere invitation can rescue someone from loneliness.
The widow who gave two small mites offered less money than those around her, yet I saw that she gave from the depth of her heart. Heaven measures sacrifice differently than the world does. (Mark 12:41–44)
I am not asking you to give what you truly do not have. I am asking you not to withhold what you can faithfully share. If you have little, give without shame according to your ability. If you have abundance, recognize that you have been entrusted with an opportunity to bless more generously. (Mosiah 4:21–24; Doctrine and Covenants 42:30–31)
Give with wisdom, but do not let fear disguise itself as wisdom.
There will always be reasons to keep everything for yourself. Fear will tell you there may not be enough tomorrow. Pride will tell you that someone should earn your kindness. Busyness will tell you that another person will take care of the need.
But faith opens its hands.
Your Father knows what you need before you ask Him. Seek His kingdom, trust His care, and refuse to let anxiety close your heart to another’s suffering. (Matthew 6:31–33)
When you give, do not perform your kindness to gain attention. Let your offering be quiet and sincere. Your Father sees the service that no audience applauds. (Matthew 6:1–4)
Do not give grudgingly or with resentment. Give freely, prayerfully, and cheerfully, for God loves a cheerful giver. (2 Corinthians 9:7) True generosity does not make the receiver feel small. It protects dignity, preserves agency, and communicates, ‘You matter. You are seen. You are not alone.’
Remember that giving is larger than money.
Give patience to the person who is struggling.
Give forgiveness to the person who has repented.
Give encouragement to someone losing hope.
Give attention to your children.
Give companionship to the lonely.
Give honest work to those who depend upon you.
Give testimony to those searching for light.
When you are in the service of your fellow beings, you are in the service of your God. (Mosiah 2:17)
Let your hands become the answer to the prayers you ask Me to answer.
If you pray for the hungry, be willing to share your bread. If you pray for the lonely, be willing to make the call. If you pray for the suffering, be willing to sit beside them. Faith without works is incomplete. (James 2:15–17)
Do not underestimate ordinary kindness. A cup of cold water given in the spirit of discipleship is remembered in heaven. (Matthew 10:42) The smallest act offered with pure love can become sacred in My hands.
But give with discernment. Helping does not always mean handing someone exactly what they request. Sometimes love provides food instead of money, opportunity instead of rescue, accountability instead of avoidance, or steady support instead of a temporary answer. Ask Me for wisdom, and I will guide you. (James 1:5)
Your purpose is not to control another person’s journey. Your purpose is to love, serve, and respond as the Spirit directs.
As you open your hands to others, I will continue shaping your heart. Generosity will loosen the grip of selfishness, quiet the fear of scarcity, and teach you to recognize that everything good ultimately comes from God. (James 1:17)
Give, and it shall be given unto you—not as a bargain with heaven, but as a divine principle of abundance. The measure of mercy, kindness, and goodness you extend will return in ways that cannot always be counted in money. (Luke 6:36–38)
You may give bread and receive peace.
You may give time and receive purpose.
You may give compassion and discover My presence.
You may lift another and find that I have strengthened you.
It is more blessed to give than to receive. (Acts 20:35)
My hands blessed the bread. My hands washed the feet of My disciples. My hands touched the unclean, lifted the fallen, blessed the children, and healed the suffering. (Matthew 14:19; John 13:4–15; Mark 1:40–42; Mark 10:16)
If you would represent Me, let your hands do the same.
Open them.
Share what you have. Serve where you stand. Give without seeking praise. Protect the dignity of the person receiving. Trust that no loving offering made in My name is ever wasted.
What you place in another’s hands, you place in Mine.”
“Give, and it shall be given unto you.” —Luke 6:38
