The students and family of Saint Joseph's Catholic School are marking the end of the term by celebrating with an international day. Students are encouraged to come to school in the traditional dress of the country of origin. The school will attend Mass in the parish church then continue the celebrations with an international lunch.

Matt Schuler received the Sacrament of Confirmation and made his First Holy Communion on Sunday, 23 August, in St Joseph's Church, Waihi. Own to a family commitment, Matt was unable to be confirmed with the other children of the parish earlier in the year. Every blessing to you Matt!

On Friday, 21 August, Rex Dillimore, a long time parishioner and local of Waihi, died suddenly at his home. Funeral Prayers will be recited for Rex on Friday, 28 August at 1.00 pm in the Waihi Beach RSA. Our condolences and sympathy go to Noeline and her family at this time. May he rest in peace.

Martin van der Velden, the father, father-in-law and Opa of Therese van Loon and family, Waihi Beach, dies in Tauranga on Monday, 3 August, after a long illness. Martin was 92 years old. Requiem Mass was celebrated for Martin on Friday, 7 August, in St Mary Immaculate Church, Tauranga. Therese and John were so appreciative of the number of parishioners that travelled to Tauranga for the funeral. May Martin know now the peace of Christ.
