What If Pentecost Happened Again?

The book of Acts describes an extraordinary moment when the Holy Spirit was poured out on the early church and ordinary believers became bold witnesses for Christ.

But was Pentecost only a historical event?
This week’s Maranatha reading says no.

The same God who empowered the early church has promised a final outpouring of the Holy Spirit before Christ returns—a “latter rain” that will give extraordinary power to the final proclamation of the gospel.

Join us LIVE this Sabbath (Sat) at 7:30am as explore one of the most hopeful promises in end-time prophecy: The gospel will not finish in weakness.

Ice-breaker question: If another Pentecost happened today, what do you think would change first in the church? - Comment your answers below, f

Many Christians talk about the cross, the resurrection, and the second coming—but what is Christ doing right now?

This week’s Maranatha reading takes us into the heavenly sanctuary and reminds us that Jesus is not absent, inactive, or distant. He is ministering for His people, interceding for us, and carrying forward the work of redemption.

Discussion - comment your answer to one or more of these questions:
A) When you think of Jesus in heaven right now, what picture comes to mind?
B) Does the idea of judgment make you feel more fear or more hope—and why?
C) Why do you think many Christians know little about Christ’s ministry in the heavenly sanctuary?

What If Preparation Has a Deadline?

Jesus said:
“The night cometh, when no man can work.”

This week’s Maranatha reading carries a strong sense of urgency. It speaks about the sealing, the latter rain, Christ’s ministry in the heavenly sanctuary, and a point when decisions will finally be settled.

But the message is not meant to make us panic.

It asks a much more practical question:
What are we doing with the opportunity God has given us today?

Join for this morning's 7:30am Live devotional as we look deeper into that.

The Closer You Get to Jesus…

Does spiritual growth make us feel better about ourselves—or more aware of how much we need Jesus?

Isaiah saw God’s glory and cried, “Woe is me!” Daniel was called “greatly beloved,” yet confessed his own sin. Job encountered God and repented. Paul described himself as “less than the least of all saints.”

This week’s Maranatha reading gives us a surprising picture of genuine spiritual maturity:

The closer we come to Jesus, the less room there is for boasting.

Share in the comments:
What is the difference between humility and thinking badly of yourself?
Why do you think spiritually mature people often seem more aware of their weaknesses?
Is it possible to be confident in Christ without becoming spiritually proud?
Who is a Bible character whose humility inspires you?

What Does Real Christian Character Look Like?

It is possible to look spiritual and still damage people with our words.
It is possible to be successful and still become proud.
It is possible to defend ourselves so fiercely that we lose the spirit of Christ.

This week’s Maranatha reading moves away from dramatic end-time events and comes directly into everyday Christian character:
honesty, gossip, criticism, humility, forgiveness, teamwork, and faithfulness.

Join us LIVE this Sabbath at 7:30am for a practical Bible discussion about the kind of character God values.

Ephesians 4:32
“And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”

Discussion question:
Why do you think gossip is so easy to participate in?

What quality makes someone genuinely trustworthy?
