MON 18th May 6.30 at Thames Buddhist Centre sangha night.
We are having an unexpected overseas visitor this coming week, Vajrapriya. who became one of Triratna’s International Order Convenors in 2024.
He was ordained in 2002, and spent most of his Dharma life working in the Cambridge Buddhist Centre, UK. He will be presenting on the international flavour of the Buddhist movement, with an opportunity for questions and discussion to follow.

Flexing to the unexpected is refreshing, and often delightful. We will resume our programme on the Puja the following week.

LONG WEEKEND RETREAT: A retreat of several days duration helps us let go of our daily concerns, and plunge more deeply into meditation, into ourselves. A retreat is being held 14 to 17 May at the Sudarshanaloka retreat centre, led by Aryasuri with the support of Satyadevi and Siladeva. Bookings are made through the Sudharshanaloka website. We hope you will consider coming. A long weekend is a good way of experiencing what a longer retreat would be like, if you have not been on an overnight event before. For time-pressed people, it also enables a retreat, albeit short. All levels of experience are welcome. The retreat is based on the successful annual retreat held at the Triratna retreat centre, Aryaloka, in the USA. People in the US are time-pressed, so appreciate a long weekend of practicing together in the ‘Noble Silence’. Let’s try it in New Zealand!

BUDDHA DAY (WESAK): We are celebrating this traditional buddhist festival day at the Monday class on 4/5/26, in the form of a special Puja. Nityadana is leading the evening. Hope to see you there. All levels of participation are welcome. (If it is new to you, observation is fine, bring curiosity and openness). People who do not attend the class are more than welcome also.

Don't forget our Dharma lending library at Thames Buddhist Centre with a good selection of practical and inspirational resources. We are always grateful for donations of recently published Dharma books, or cash donations to help us purchase selected titles for Sangha study.
