The Lord’s Table
Or ‘Communion’ as widely known, from the Greek word ‘κοινωνία’ (koinónia - koy-nohn-EE-ah) which means in fellowship, sharing, participation. The Lord’s table is a place for us to come together to remind ourselves of our ‘common union’ as followers of Christ as a result of the price He paid on the cross.
A time to reflect, confess and remember the body that was sacrificed for our sin, and the blood that was spilled as payment for that sin. A sacred ordinance reserved only for believers, for the church to establish and practice in remembrance of what Christ did for us on the cross at Calvary.
Matthew 26:26-28
Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.” And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
