We are having a TENEBRAE service at St Paul's Friday 3rd April at 8pm
All are welcome
The service of Tenebrae is a solemn service observed during Holy Week, particularly on Good Friday. The word "Tenebrae" means "darkness" or "shadows" in Latin, reflecting the mood of the service. It is characterised by the gradual extinguishing of candles or lights in the church, symbolising the abandonment of Christ by his disciples and the darkness of the world at his death. The service features readings from scripture, often accompanied by haunting music and silence, creating a reflective atmosphere to contemplate the passion and suffering of Jesus Christ.
