Our first chat and chill morning.
What a lovely first chat and chill morning we had! We welcomed seniors from our social housing community and wider community for a relaxed morning of coffee, conversation and connection.
A special thank you to the wonderful Jackie, who has a real gift for connecting people and bringing them together. She saw an opportunity to create space where people could meet, chat and build new friendships, and then made it happen.
It was a beautiful reminder that sometimes all people need is a cuppa, a friendly chat and someone who cares.
We're looking forward to seeing where this little gathering grows!

Growing Young Minds Through Chess

Every Tuesday evening, the Salvation Army rear hall in Paraparaumu Beach becomes a hive of concentration as young chess players gather for the Kāpiti Junior Chess Club.
The club provides children with more than an opportunity to learn chess. Through lessons, games and tournaments, they develop concentration, problem-solving, patience, decision-making and good sportsmanship.
The Junior Club meets during school terms from 6:30–7:30pm, and the programme caters for children developing their skills from beginners through to tournament players.
The Salvation Army Hall has provided a welcoming home for Kāpiti chess for many years. It is a wonderful example of how community spaces can help local organisations provide positive opportunities for children and families.
Thank you to the Salvation Army for providing a home for junior chess in Kāpiti.

Good News Story-God Provides!
Today we give thanks to God for His incredible provision, generosity and goodness.
After Kāpiti Impact Church made the difficult decision to close their doors to its playgroup after 20 years, they generously invited us to come and receive resources that we could use and enjoyed by our playgroup.
Ella, George and Anna filled their car to the brim, as did Racheal-Lee! What an amazing blessing and answer to prayer for our playgroup.
We are so grateful for the generosity shown to us and for the way God provided through HIs people. What was once a blessing to one community can now continue to bless another, and we are excited to see the joy these resources will bring to our tamariki and their families.

Messy Church
What a wonderful afternoon at Messy church we had! We gathered together for some fun, friendship, food and faith, exploring the story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego (or Rak, Shak and Benny) and what it means to trust God, even when things are tough.
There were hot drinks, nacho wraps and ice cream, bubbles of God's love AND plenty of smiles along the way!
We loved sharing the afternoon with our families, and hope everyone went hope feeling loved, seen, heard and blessed by God's love.
We can't wait to out next Messy Church on the 6th of September.

Today we want to shout out the beautiful Litia, who has been volunteering in The Commons since the beginning.
God calls us to love one another, and Litia is a wonderful example of living that. She serves with love, for Gods glory and to make a difference in our community. She gives her time and energy to serve others, serve our community and ultimately serve God and bring Him glory.
Litia also makes time to nurture her own faith. She enjoys unwinding with a cup of tea and spending time in her Daily Bread and Word of the day bible studies. These quiet moments where God's word are important to her and give her time to find peace, reflect in God's goodness, and notice the beauty and blessings He has placed around us. They help her continue to grow in faith and understand how she can live out God's love in her everyday life. And, of course, there is always time for a good nap!
At just five years old, Lita remembers hearing the words, "The fear of God is the beginning of wisdom." Those words have stayed with her throughout her life, love and obey the lord, trust in His teachings, and allow His word to guide you.
And when she needs a little music to brighten her day, her favourite song is "Te ara Tika" (especially when Christoph sings it!)
We are so thankful for Litia, her generous heart, her faith, all the love she brings to our community and the beautiful way she puts God's love into action.
