Gurdwara Sri Harkrishan Sahib Palmerston North was pleased to donate fresh produce to support our wider community, shared through the Congregational Christian Church of Samoa EFKS and Methodist Social Services Palmerston North.

Every opportunity to care for others is a collective responsibility. Through seva (selfless service), we are reminded to share what we have and support those in our communities who may be facing hardship.

This reflects the Sikh principle of Sarbat da Bhala — wishing and working for the wellbeing of all.

Seva is not just what we give; it is how we live. 🙏

9 Sept 2026: Gurdwara Sri Harkrishan Sahib, Palmerston North, donated fresh vegetables to Te Whare Koha, helping provide fresh produce to individuals and whānau experiencing hardship.

For Sikhs, sharing with those in need is an expression of Seva (selfless service) and Vand Chhakna (sharing what we have with others). These values remind us that what we have can be used to support others, especially during difficult times. This reflects Sarbat da Bhala; Sikh principle of seeking the wellbeing of all.

There is also a beautiful connection with the Māori concept of whānau, where caring for and supporting one another strengthens the wellbeing of the wider community. While our traditions may use different words, the message is shared: we are stronger when we care for one another and leave no one behind.

We are grateful to Te Whare Koha Highbury: Te Roopu Oranga O Highbury Trust for the important work they do supporting people and whānau in our community. Through the sharing of fresh produce, we are proud to put the spirit of Seva into action.
