Salt is an Assemblies of God church and one of the first in our movement to form in 1927. As a church we believe that Jesus wants us to pursue our best life. Our goal is for everyone to find a place where they are passionate and excited about being a part of the team, and doing life together. One that makes a difference beyond us, both locally and globally.

Sometimes the biggest steps of faith begin with a quiet whisper.

That’s Courtney’s story.

Years ago, God placed a simple but unmistakable calling on her heart: ”One day you will be a teacher in Africa.”

Today, she’s living that calling in Ethiopia.

One of the things we love about Courtney’s story is that it reminds us God’s call doesn’t always begin with a grand plan. Often, it begins with a quiet invitation to trust Him with the next step.

As a church, we’re honoured to support Courtney and the incredible work God is doing through her. Whether our mission takes us across the street or across the world, we’re all invited to join in God’s work of bringing hope, love, and the good news of Jesus to others.

That’s what living **Life on Mission** looks like. 🤍

This Sunday, we’ll be welcoming Courtney home, praying for her, and hearing firsthand what God has been doing in and through her during her time in Ethiopia.

We’d love you to join us.

Tomorrow we gather again.

We come from different backgrounds, generations, cultures and stories, yet we gather around the same table, the same Saviour, and the same hope.

We can’t wait to worship together. See you tomorrow!

A prayer prayed in Palmerston North is changing lives in Northern India.

What started with a small group of people seeking God’s direction has grown into a movement of church planting, discipleship, education, and community transformation.

Today, over 1,200 churches have been planted across Northern India, and countless lives have been impacted through the faithfulness of local leaders, missionaries, and churches partnering together.

This is part of who we are.

A church that believes God’s love is for our neighbours next door and for people we’ll never meet on the other side of the world.

We’re grateful to play a small part in a much bigger story.

Meet Alan.

For more than 20 years, Alan has faithfully served on our worship team, helping lead our church in worship week after week, year after year.

At nearly 75 years old, you’ll still find him at rehearsals and behind the keys most Sunday mornings, quietly serving and helping create space for our church family to encounter God.

When asked what keeps him serving after all these years, Alan said:

“I still enjoy it. It’s a sense I feel of fulfilling part of my calling, knowing that I’m helping people to worship and doing what I’m called to.”

One of the things we’re proud of at Salt is the longevity of service among our people. Faithfulness like Alan’s tells a story — not only of individual commitment, but of a church community that has been shaped by generations of people saying “yes” to serving where God has called them.

Thank you, Alan, for your faithfulness, humility, and the countless ways you’ve helped lead us in worship over the years.

If Alan has encouraged or impacted you over the years, leave him a message below. We’d love to pass it on to him. 💌

We believe mission starts with people.

With conversations.
With kindness.
With making room.
With showing up, week after week.

Takaro mainly music is one small way we get to serve families in our community, creating space for connection, friendship, and belonging.

Because following Jesus isn’t only about what happens on a Sunday. It’s about how we show up for our neighbours every day.

If you’d like to know how you can support this team or others like it comment or dm us. We’d love to hear from you!

Following Jesus is often formed in ordinary moments.

In conversations before the service.
In prayers with a friend.
In serving alongside others.
In sharing life around a table.

Week by week, God uses these moments to shape us as apprentices of Jesus.

We’re thankful to be on the journey together.

Who first made you feel welcome here?

As we’ve been reflecting on life on mission, we’ve been reminded that following Jesus is often less about grand gestures and more about making room for people.

A seat at the table.
A shared meal.
A conversation after the service.
A name remembered.

Most of us can point to someone who helped us feel seen, known, and welcomed when we first arrived.

Tag them below or tell us their story. We’d love to celebrate the people who have helped shape our community. 🤍
