Pray with us for young people and youth leaders from Riccarton Community Church, Rutland Street Church, Emmett Street Community Church, Halswell Community Church and Grace Church Richmond NZ who are together in Canterbury for First Training this weekend.

First Training is leadership training for developing leaders aged 16-18 and includes a mix of teaching and worship times together, time in small groups for discussion, and solo times for prayer and reflection.

There is also time set aside in the evenings for young people to gather in their youth groups with their leaders for further discussion and prayer.

We had a great day on Saturday at Lower North Island Summit Connect! Thanks to the team from The Coast Community Church for hosting us, and leading us as we worshipped God in song together.

Victor Moore from Heretaunga Community Church encouraged us that the Bible points people to Jesus, helps people live for Jesus, and sends people to speak for Jesus.

A highlight was hearing the stories from Andrea Legg, John Barris and Samuel Rees-Thomas about how God is at work.

We're thankful for our breakout session facilitators and contributors, especially Caitlin Berkers, Joel Birkin, Henare Whaanga, Chris Northcott, Chris & Sandy Leadbeater, Mark Gordon, Isaac Pettersen, and Victor Moore.

We appreciated sharing the day with support ministries including hearing from Emma Foster about Te Maru camp Highland Home, and connecting with people from NZ Rally, GC3, Pathways College and Stewards'.

“It’s amazing watching families do this together... I saw children washing their parents’ feet, parents washing their children’s feet, and even grandparents washing their grandchildren’s feet and praying over them.”
