Your visit is easy now the road has been repaired, stable and to the house to come for a visit, a retreat or to spend time in a quiet place for refreshing, reconnection and restoration…. are welcome to stay as an individual or a group.
There is a cost for accommodation and food if we provide it but you can be self catering.

At present the dam track is closed while remedial work is to be done as there are slips needing clearing so a walk in the bush is possible on another part of the property or in the Forest park 3km from the house. The river track is also an option

Be ready to be blessed .y

A song " God is enough " by John Talbot is encouraging as we wait for the final actions needed to restore the road. It's walkable even ifxa bit muddy as the water table hasn't been restored, a retaining wall built, the remains land on the otaki side sorted to havexa driveway. A good team working to complete the job, thanks Goodmans, .kcdc staff and all who have contributed.

The action of clearing the slip at Blue Bluffs on Otaki Gorge Road is still happening. We are waiting to drive back to the Gate rather than walking to and fro as we did for 4 1/2 years. We look forward to seeing you there again.

greetings from far away.. a hidden gem in the tararuas only accessible by walking about 1km from the locked gates. We are enjoying the space, appreciate the helicopter drops of resources and are looking forward to an improved access being worked on at present... no, it's not the road only the slipface track. Come see the orange rope reaching from side to the other.
The brave and tramping ones head out and over, mind you some also bring their bikes to shorten the journey time, good on them as they need to lift it at various points especially at our end. It's managable and enjoyable in such a quiet place.. hard to believe we haven't had a car past our gate for over 20 months.

A great day this past Monday .. we waited til 4pm for the helicopter to come to airlift supplies including bird food, potting mix, wood rounds and to take away 3 months + of rubbish and recycling... It was great to see the net in use and with a team of 3 it happened quite quickly with the helicopter pilot unloading at this end and extra help with the net full of wood rounds ready for splitting to help me. What a gift as we have been preparing for this for a couple of weeks. What a sight to see one's rubbish flying in the sky!

It's an amazing time as we now are in autumn with cool mornings and hot days with more tomatoes ripening, greens in the garden and lots of blackberries picked from the Forest Park patch.

Over 120 ml of rain in the recent days but it seems to have soaked into the soil. The river is not very high but muddy below us and the slip looks unchanged as of this morning but we will need to wait a day or 2 to see how it might change... rain soaked soil caused the one on December 9th.
A couple of quiet days for us who kept preparing for the rain to come by splitting and cutting wood then boxing and bagging it up to put into storage.

16 month since the road was shut with double gates and signage.. a marathon underway with a meeting of interested parties in February we understand. We will wait with anticipation of a good outcome.
