Hello from Muslims in Oamaru,
We are Muslim community base in small town in New Zealand called Oamaru. We are small but growing Muslim community that mix culture from Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Fiji, Jordan, Turkey, Bangladesh, Srilanka and Egypt. When I started this campaign we used to move from house to house for our activity such as Sholat fardu, Taraweh , Iftar, Reading Qur'an lesson for kids and Regular lesson about Islam for Adult. Until one of Brother Community kindly let us use his house Garage as Temporary place for Pray activity. This garage capacity is 25 people for all adult or up to 30 people if we mix adult and kids meanwhile the Muslim population in Oamaru its around 80 people this tell us that if all of us come to gathering and want to pray together there is no enough space. Oamaru is transit place for people traveling within the South Island. And when our Muslim brothers and sisters transit and looking for place to pray as well as to fresh up. It would have been better if we had a proper place where they can use the toilet at the same time. Because of your Generous Donation since 27 January 2017 we have manage to rent this place at 2 Trent Street , Oamaru. Still we aim own property that might cost between $ 450.000- $600.000 ,BUT till then we are trying hard to maintain what we have. Our monthly rent $1.243.59 per and operational cost of $19.200 per year. We have manage to stay on with your support Alhamdulillah. Our income so far is pure from donation from you through this fundraiser website, the member of the community and some people that come to the Centre to Pray Jamaah. This is a very big opportunity for Muslim brother and sister to make perpetual charity by giving donation. So Let us compete in good deeds فَاسْتَبِقُواْ الْخَيْرَاتِ Al-Baqaroh:148

Sunday Community Meeting Programme

Main Theme

“The mosques of Allah are only to be maintained by those who believe in Allah and the Last Day, establish prayer, give Zakah, and fear none but Allah. It is they who are expected to be among the rightly guided.”

Sunday – 5:00 PM | Oamaru Islamic Centre

We will gather for Asr prayer in congregation, followed by short talks, community discussion and dinner.

Main Purpose

The main purpose of this meeting is to discuss together how we can make our Masjid more alive with the remembrance and worship of Allah.

Our Masjid should not only be a place for prayer, but also a true Islamic and community centre for:

Qur’an • Tajweed • Seerah • Islamic education • Youth development • Social activities • Sport • Brotherhood and Sisterhood • Community support

Short Talks – Approximately 10 Minutes Each

• Dr Ahmed Elsaka: Opening talk – Maintaining and Bringing Life to the Houses of Allah.
• Brother Khairul Islam: Prophet Musa and Al-Khidr – Lessons from Surah Al-Kahf.
• Brother Shahid: The Role of the Masjid During the Time of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and Its Continuing Role in Muslim Society.

Youth Speakers

• Abdurahman Elsaka: Muhammad Al-Fatih – How Young Muslims Have Played a Major Role in Changing Islamic History.
• Roedad Jalal: Usama ibn Zayd – Youth Leadership, Responsibility and the Prophet’s ﷺ Trust in Young Muslims.

Ladies’ Presentation

One of the sisters will give a short presentation about a prominent Muslim woman or one of the female Companions who played an important role in the Muslim community.

The speaker and the selected personality will be nominated later.

Community Discussion

We will also discuss and vote on the future of the second Jumu’ah prayer.

The discussion will include:

• The importance and virtue of performing prayers at their proper time.
• Maintaining the first Jumu’ah as the main congregational Friday prayer.
• If a second Jumu’ah is genuinely needed, keeping it for limited and necessary circumstances.
• Avoiding a system that may unintentionally encourage people to miss the first Jumu’ah and routinely depend on the second one.

Other Agenda Items

We will also discuss:

Recent photos and videos of the Masjid • Social-media fundraising • Encouraging donations • Future Islamic programmes • Youth activities • Community and sporting activities

Dinner

Dinner will be shared together after the programme.

Everyone is warmly encouraged to attend, participate and contribute ideas so that together we can make our Masjid a true centre of worship, knowledge, youth development, brotherhood, sisterhood and community life.
