Taranaki Youth Orchestra - TYO This is the public page for information about the activities of the TYO We have weekly rehearsals at the New Plymouth Methodist Centre from 5-7pm.

Taranaki Youth Orchestra caters for young musicians (under 23y/o), with a minimum skill level of grade 3 level. We also run the Taranaki Training Orchestra to encourage those below grade 3 to play in an ensemble, from 4-4:45pm on Tuesdays. During the school holidays we have academies. These are designed to open up the orchestra to those who cannot commit to a regular Tuesday rehearsal. New players

are welcome to join us at any time; we welcome all orchestral instruments, as well as pianists (we can find you a job), we can even accommodate brass band instruments, saxophones and bass guitar......if in doubt just ask, we can probably use you somewhere! We have several support players from the Taranaki Symphony Orchestra who kindly come and mentor new players to make it a less scary experience for new people!
