This happened the day following synod. Sue was not in the boat having gone on a different tour. We thank God everyone was safely rescued & those who went to hospital for checkups were soon cleared for release. The excellent organisational response & support & care from synod was wonderful to be a part of. On Saturday morning before most of us departed we had morning prayer together & our last memory of synod was of praying together & singing Whakaaria Mai.

A whale-watching boat carrying several New Zealand Anglican Church delegates capsized and sank in Tonga on Saturday.

🎉Today we are Celebrating 2 years of Lana at the helm of our Op Shop! 🎉

Over the past two years, Lana has brought so much enthusiasm, dedication and heart to the Op Shop. Her hard work, friendly nature and commitment to making the shop the best it can be are truly appreciated by us all. ❤️

Here I am in Tonga & we had the most amazing welcome yesterday. St Andrew’s school is 120 years old. The students put on a formal welcome to General Synod yesterday. It was followed by a magical night of entertainment & feasting at the school. What a lovely way to start.

Tomorrow lunchtime - join us for our final roadshow event about how your faith community can help ensure no voice goes uncounted in your community.

Hear from Common Grace Aotearoa Co-Directors Alex Johnston and Kate Day about how we are organising to enrol people to vote and to remind them to follow through and vote this election, and how you and your faith community could be involved.

We won’t be telling you or your community which parties or candidates to vote for, but together, we can help ensure that thousands of voices that might otherwise get shut out of our democracy, get heard this election.

Tues 11 August, 12:30-1:30

Join us for a Kiwi‑as Choral Evensong - a peaceful, beautiful close to the day.
St Peter’s Chancel Choir is small, with talented and experienced singers who bring warmth, clarity, and depth to this timeless service.

These little moments of music and stillness are our gift to our Mount community; a chance to pause, breathe, and rest in the gentle glow of late afternoon.

All are welcome to share in this space for peace and reflection.

Sunday 6 September at 4pm — St Peter’s Anglican Church, Mount Maunganui.
