Time to get active and advocate on the part of those who need it!
This is about making a submission to parliament.

🚨 Criminalising homelessness is not the answer. 🚨
Today, the Government is holding the first reading of the proposed Summary Offences (Move-on Orders) Amendment Bill.
This legislation would give police the power to issue "Move-On Orders" to people sleeping rough, begging, or indicating an “intent to inhabit” a public place—including young people as young as 14. Those who don’t comply could face a $2,000 fine or up to three months in prison.
This bill is cruel, unnecessary, and a likely breach of human rights. It simply pushes vulnerable people out of public sight instead of fixing the root causes of homelessness.
At Common Grace Aotearoa, we believe in transforming unjust structures for the common good. We need evidence-based solutions, not harmful measures that victimise those already doing it tough.
