This Easter, we give thanks for those in our parish who received Baptism, Confirmation and First Holy Communion, and for those welcomed into full communion with the Catholic Church.

Please keep them in your prayers as they continue their journey of faith.

Bishop Richard reminds us that the sacraments are not the end, but the beginning of the Christian life. He encourages us all to welcome our new brothers and sisters, reach out to them, and walk alongside them in faith, hope and love.

Lenten Reflection: Jesus the Gardener

Lent is a season of tending the soil of our hearts.

In the Gospel of John, the risen Jesus is mistaken for a gardener. Perhaps this is no accident. Like a patient gardener, He comes to cultivate new life where hope seemed lost.

A garden does not flourish by accident. The soil must be turned. Dead growth is cleared away. What is good is watered, fed, and given time to grow.

Lent invites us to allow Jesus to work gently within us:

to clear away what has become dry or unfruitful,

to loosen the hardened places in our hearts,

to nourish what leads to love, mercy, and compassion.

As a gardener waits patiently for the harvest, so the Lord waits for the fruits of our lives — the fruits named in the Letter to the Galatians: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

This season, we might ask: What in me needs pruning?
What needs watering?
What good fruit is God quietly growing?

May this Lent be a time of quiet growth. And by Easter, may our lives bear fruit that nourishes others and reflects the loving care of Christ, our Gardener.
