We are saddened to hear of the earthly transition of a great servant of the Lord.
Reverend Dr. Samisoni Lenati, founding father of the Tongan Assemblies of God in New Zealand and also a key pioneer in the establishment of the World Tongan Assemblies of God. Truly, a father of the movement, a General of the Faith, whose works have influenced Tongan communities around the globe.
Affectionately known as Rev. Sami to our church throughout the years, it was his close friendship with our forefathers gone before us that helped bring our sister-movements together.
When Rev. Sami arrived in New Zealand, he carried a burning passion to see his people saved. He sought support from the late Rev. Samani Pulepule and the late Rev. Motu Matia, who welcomed him with open arms and encouraged him to build the Tongan Assemblies of God in New Zealand. From this friendship, both the Samoan and Tongan works continued to grow and flourish. To God be the glory!
Rev. Sami was a dynamic preacher and an anointed psalmist, he served as the General Superintendent of the Tongan Assemblies of God in New Zealand for many years. He began networking with Tongan communities locally and abroad, further co-establishing a World Tongan Assemblies of God Fellowship.
Throughout the years he has remained a faithful steward, an approachable leader who was anchored to the rock but also geared to the times. He is survived by his children who also faithfully serve the Lord, with one of sons Rev. Lawrence Lenati succeeding him as General Superintendent and President.
On behalf of our leaders, Reverend Muavae Mika and First Lady Line and the entire General Council of the Samoan Assemblies of God in New Zealand, we would like to honour the long and faithful service of Rev. Sami, who has graduated to glory with full honours and distinction.
