For those who are interested in the Merchant Navy Commemorative Wreath-laying held at Ōtaki College every March, and proudly supported by the combined bands of The Salvation Army Levin Corps and Levin and Districts Brass, Merchant Navy Day is 3 September, marking the anniversary of the sinking of the first British merchant ship, just hours after the declaration of the Second World War in 1939.

Our band continues to willingly accept the annual invitation to take part in the Ōtaki ceremony.
