Hi everyone,

Usually by now our team would be neck-deep in posters, streamers and other assorted decorations, busy at work preparing for the next party. Unfortunately, due to a number of factors affecting the team and behind-the-scenes work, the official Kumeu Light Party has come to an end. ForeSee, the group of local churches behind it all, would love to thank everyone that has been involved for making our parties reality, from sponsors, volunteers and the all-important sausage sizzlers to the thousand or so kids (and parents!) who have come along in their finest costumes to enjoy the fun.

We've really loved spending the last nine (can you believe it?!) years together: getting our faces painted into lions and unicorns, playing all manner of DIY games, testing the capacity and age limit of bouncy castles, and having far too many lollies. We've had all sorts of themes ranging from the quirky (spots and stripes) to the fantastical (superheroes in space) with some pretty stunning costumes to boot! Over the next few weeks, we'll be posting some of our favourite memories from Light Parties past to celebrate the last decade of glitter and fun. Feel free to join in as we roll the credits and look back on all our fabulous decorations, activities and attendees!

Hi folks,

Unfortunately, it just isn't possible for us to hold Light Party: Christmas Edition this year.

We would be holding it under the red traffic light guidelines: 100-person limit, 1-metre physical distancing, no food or drink, and all adults and kids older than 12 fully vaccinated. Our expected numbers are around 500, so a strict entry limit would be needed. These requirements were only clarified in the last week, and one week just isn't enough time to organise an event as big as ours. (But we've managed to do it in three weeks before!)

We know that a number of families look forward to our Light Party each year, and we are just as disappointed that there won't be one in 2021. If we did organise a smaller event last-minute, we feel it would potentially endanger our children and wouldn't do the community justice.

We plan to hold our next Light Party in 2022 as usual, and hopefully by then we'll be able to hold it in its fullest capacity.

This year has been tough for everyone. We're sorry for being the bearers of bad news, but we hope to see your lovely faces again soon. We wish you a very Merry Christmas, and every blessing for the new year.

Hi everyone!

Usually around this time of year we'd be announcing the theme of the light party, which takes place every Halloween night. We were very lucky last year to be able to hold our biggest party yet, after not even knowing if it would be happening until around a month before.

Unfortunately, we don't know if Auckland will be in Level 1 by the time Halloween rolls around, so we've made the decision to cancel Kumeu Light Party 2021.
..and instead, we'd like to introduce you to Light Party: Christmas Edition! All the great games, food, entertainment and fun, but with a Christmas twist. We'll be holding it at Kumeu Community Centre, on Sunday 5th December from 4-7pm.

More information coming soon, and we hope you're just as excited about it as we are!

Wow, what a night!

Thank you to everyone who attended! We hope you have a great sleep after tonight's dancing and fun. Congratulations to everyone who won prizes, and thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make the magic happen this year!

There were so many wonderful costumes: astronauts, aliens, a particularly tall batman, supermen galore, several princesses and at least one hotdog!

Hi everyone! Lots of busy bees at the community hall, decorating the spaceships! Just a few little updates:

It's raining, so we may not be able to have our outside activities running (petting zoo, bouncy castles). We'll see how the weather is when the party starts, but for now, both bouncy castles will be inside.

Keeping everyone safe is important: if you're not feeling too well, please stay home! Sign in with the Covid-19 QR codes when you come in so we can keep everyone accounted for if necessary.

And finally, all the updates and highlights of the night will be on our Instagram!
