Our main Service is on Sunday at 10am Contact us about a hire!

We are a suburban church in South Wellington, a community of people who are seeking to be salt and light in the world where God has placed us. Our life together mainly revolves around 10am service on a Sunday morning. Our website has details of our current children's, youth and general programmes, including community outreach work. We are also a community venue, with great spaces for meetings, children's parties and various classes, both during the day and in the evenings.

There are many artists sharing the hall at Island Bay Presbyterian Church Hall this year, and between them you will find kelp forests, bush scenes and birds and abstraction in one room. Add the Wellington Weavers at their looms, an exploration of the art of drawing from Berhampore School, and paint and canvases available at the Island Bay Visitors Artspace, and 88 The Parade becomes one of the busiest stops on the trail.

Nicole Miller photographs the seaw**d forests along the Wellington coastline. From abstract black-and-white studies of giant kelp, to vibrant underwater scenes most people who live here have never seen.

Edith Diggle works in a variety of mediums including landscapes, seascapes, bush scenes and birds. Edith likes to capture the essence, and evoking a sense of calmness, a place from which to stand, observe, and feel recharged and inspired.

Christine Strang works in acrylic across landscape, figure and abstract. Her paintings are either very bright or very dark, with not much in between.

88 The Parade. Stops 5 to 9.

Open 10am to 4pm, 12 and 13 September. Free entry.

"Art Activation ~The Island Bay Visitors Artspace

New for 2026, we're creating an art space for visitors to paint a small canvas and display it alongside other visitors' paintings over the weekend. This will be located in the front entrance of Island Bay Presbyterian Church, 88 The Parade. (there's an exhibition here all weekend!)

This is a great opportunity for people of all ages to 'make and create' during the arts trail. It is inclusive of everyone's artistic ability, so come along and join in - we'll provide a small canvas and paints and brushes.

We suggest a koha of $5 which covers the costs of materials, and you'll be able to take it home - ideally after the weekend if you're able to collect!

It's the first year we're trying it, and we would love to see it grow.

When Saturday 12 September: 11am - 2pm and Sunday 13 September 12pm - 4pm (pending)

As the General Election draws near, are you interested in exploring current issues from a Christian lens? Common Grace is a Kiwi Christian movement seeking the common good, and Thriving in This Land is their latest discussion guide addressing the three topics of 1) cost of living, 2) extreme weather, 3) and the Treaty. The local churches of Island Bay will be hosting these discussions - all are welcome, or all faiths or of none.

Our condolences are with Ann and the family on the passing of Michael Bain on Tuesday morning. Michael was a long-term Island Bay resident, joining our church when he was about 4 years old! A man of generosity and kindness. He might be best known in the community as the Armed Forces representative at our annual community ANZAC day service.
His funeral service will be at our church, 12:30pm Tuesday.

We commend him to the Lord he loved
