Church of the Epiphany - Hanmer Springs Covid-19 Policy

Preamble

We have also taken into account the recommendation of our church body in makin

g this policy. The following quote is from a pastoral letter sent on 30 Nov by Bishop Peter Carrell.
“Orange Traffic Light, which is expected to last until at least 17 January 2022 will come into force on Friday 3rd December. It is vital that we approach this new mode, especially when the Auckland borders open up, committed to doing what it takes to both be safe and to give others confidence that we are practising safe habits in our attendance at church and participation in other events on church premises… Collectively our expectations should be that we will mask when in church.”

Each week we welcome visitors to our service and thus do not know from week to week how many will attend, Our church building is too small to accommodate more than 20 people distanced 1 metre apart and our climate does not allow for a confident expectation that outdoor services can occur each week. Policy
a) Sunday church services (including Christmas Eve and Christmas Day)
All Sunday services (and those special days which are not on a Sunday – e.g., Christmas and Easter) will operate under the rules for a gathering With My Vaccine Pass. b) Other Parish gatherings
All other parish gatherings which are for the local congregation (e.g., study groups, meals, children’s groups) will operate under the rules for a gathering Without My Vaccine Pass. c) All workers (paid/unpaid)
All workers (paid/unpaid) for services or events requiring My Vaccine Passes will have the record of their vaccinations kept on file by the Vestry. Churchwardens will ensure this record keeping takes place. Although workers (paid/unpaid) do not need to be vaccinated when the service or event does not require My Vaccine Passes, any working with children will be required to have a vaccine pass regardless of the status of that gathering. Our country will move between ‘Traffic Lights’ and the regulations governing our public life will thus change. We will update this policy in line with government regulations and it will be reviewed each month at the Vestry meeting.
