Chartwell Cooperating Church - St Alban's

Chartwell Cooperating Church - St Alban's Chartwell Cooperating Church (St Alban’s) is a combination of 3 denominations; Anglican, Methodist and Presbyterian. Up to 20 youth attend altogether.

We seek to celebrate these traditions in worship and in life. We welcome people with different understandings of the Christian faith. Our purpose is to "know and to share God’s love for all people"

Chartwell Church is a place to grow in faith and to make new friends who encourage and support others in life. Our ministers are available to openly discuss any particular concerns. Our warm and welcom

ing atmosphere encourages people to explore the many opportunities we offer. Inclusiveness for us means:

• Committing to a culture of empathy, ensuring and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for all ages, ethnicities and genders
• A place for all who wish to worship and follow their spiritual journey
• We encourage participation from all and appreciate the diverse gifts all have to offer
• Our love of all people will be demonstrated through compassion, care, seeking of justice and providing hope and support
• Sharing resources, facilities and programmes with the wider community

We have a busy church complex situated on the corner of Comries Road and Bellmont Avenue right in the heart of Chartwell, close to Chartwell Shopping Centre and the growing suburbs of Rototuna and Flagstaff. Our buildings are widely used by a range of community groups and Church-based events and ministries. All of our rooms have easy access for wheelchairs and there is ample car parking. Children’s and Youth Education:

The children’s programme starts in the church, and then continues elsewhere with a rostered team of leaders - Sunday School for children and Youth Group for the older youth. Regularly throughout the year, “Kids Communions” are held where the Sunday School and Youth Group join the 9:30am service for a Communion with a youth focus. Also regularly throughout the year the Sunday morning Youth Group take on ministry/service roles within the 9:30am service and once a year run a whole service themselves. Evening Youth Group :

On a Thursday night (fortnightly) there is a more relaxed recreational Youth Group called Vibe. This caters for our intermediate and younger high school youth. On the alternate Friday night (fortnightly) there is an older youth and young adults group called Unplugged. This is more topic and discussion-based over a shared dessert. Some of the attendees in both groups are not regular church families. There are a variety of church-affiliated groups that are based in our church. These have been created at different times as a response to the needs of the community. These include:
• Kidz Korner Toy Library
• Mainly Music
• Girls’ Brigade

Significant numbers of children are involved in the periphery every week who are not on our parish roll.

To those regulars who’ve helped us throughout the year, we’d love you to come along to our monthly working bee this Saturday, August 15 from 9:30-11am, and help us with some of our 2026 planting. Afterwards we'll have a kai and a catch up at The Watershed to say a huge thank you for your support.

As we approach Mother’s Day this Sunday, we send our love and best wishes to all who nurture, guide, support, and care for others. We celebrate mums, grandmothers, foster mums, stepmums, aunties, and all those who have shared motherly love in many different ways. We also hold gently those for whom this day may be difficult — those missing their mums, longing for relationships they never had, grieving, or carrying complicated memories. May this weekend be filled with kindness, comfort, gratitude, and love.
Remember to come along to our 9.30am service to hear about Easter Camp from our youth and their leaders.
