As part of our efforts to raise money for the mosque’s roof replacement, we invited people to help harvest some of our finest cherries here in the heart of Central Otago. Many turned up in the morning to start picking and finished at noon where we all gathered for lunch. Over 650kgs of cherries were picked by our 20 wonderful volunteers which all worked hard in the muggy heat to achieve this. Well done team!

The biggest thank you to those who went out of their way and took time off their holidays to help with this fundraiser and gathering- whether it was cherry picking or bringing a plate to eat. It was lovely to see people coming from all over the South Island including Timaru, Oamaru and as far as Christchurch and Greymouth! Not forgetting the local faces from around Otago and Southland as well. Overall it was a successful time gathering our Muslim community together. We will update you soon on how much was money was raised towards the mosque.

Our November lecture yesterday!

The gathering was attended by members/visitors as well as researchers Dr Ash, Douglas and Hannah from the University of Otago. A big thank you to everyone that joined.
