HYMN OF THE WEEK
All That Thrills My Soul
Verse 1
Who can cheer the heart like Jesus
By His presence all divine
True and tender pure and precious
Oh how blest to call Him mine
Chorus
All that thrills my soul is Jesus
He is more than life to me
And the fairest of ten thousand
In my blessed Lord I see
Verse 2
Love of Christ so freely given
Grace of God beyond degree
Mercy higher than the heaven
Deeper than the deepest sea
Verse 3
Ev'ry need His hand supplying
Ev'ry good in Him I see
On His strength divine relying
He is all in all to me
Verse 4
By the crystal flowing river
With the ransomed I will sing
And forever and forever
Praise and glorify the King
Verse 5
What a wonderful redemption
Never can a mortal know
How my sin tho' red like crimson
Can be whiter than the snow

FROM OUR PASTOR
Dear Friends! The Apostle Paul said: (2nd Timothy 4:7) “I have
fought the good fight; I have finished the race; I have kept the
faith.” There’s a lot of satisfaction in finishing something that you
have started. The success in a race is determined not only by how
well you start, but also by how well you finish. Many athletes can
begin a race impressively, but if they stumble, or are injured, or
lack the stamina to finish then their good start didn’t amount to
anything! Paul rejoiced that he not only begun the race, but that he
was also able to finish it. His prize was ‘a crown of righteousness
that was in store for him’ (v.8)
The Christian life isn’t easy. Some, mistakenly assume that once
you become a Christian, their struggles should be over. Many
Christians begin their walk with Christ enthusiastically, but as
pressure mounts, they lose heart and give up!
The Apostle Paul described his life as a ‘battle’. There were times
when he struggled, and it was only through perseverance that he
was able to continue. He even had times he struggled to remain
faithful to God. He faced persecution, betrayal, misunderstanding
and death threats. His Christian life was anything but easy, yet he
persevered.
Our Christian life isn’t proven by starting out well, but rather, by
persevering to the end! We could well use Paul as a model, by living our life in such a way that one day, towards the end of it (whenever that might be) we, too, will be able to say: “I have fought the good fight. I have run the race. I have kept the faith.”

FROM OUR PASTOR
Dear Friends! In Mark 14: 28 we read how Jesus said to His
disciples: “After I have been raised, I will go before you to
Galilee.” God never sends us into a situation alone. He always
goes before His children – as He did with the Children of Israel
when He led them with a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night.
He always precedes us in any situation that we might encounter.
God is never caught by surprise by whatever we may be
experiencing. He’s already there. He’s prepared to meet our every
need because He’s gone before us and knows exactly what we will
need in that situation.
But not only does God go before us, He also stands beside us and
behind us to provide comfort and protection (see Psalm 136:7-12).
If you are currently going through a difficult, or confusing time, you
can be assured that God has gone before you and is present with you. He is fully aware of what you are facing, and He will be actively responding to your need. There is nowhere that you can go that you will not find God waiting for you to join Him and to ask Him to be with you and help you!
And even when it comes time for us to face death, we can still be
assured that He has gone before us in triumph. (See John.4:14 )
As children of God, we can rest assured, in the knowledge that
God, our Saviour, has preceded us in everything that we are going
through right now – and whatever we may face in the future. And
you can trust Him to go through whatever experience you face –
and He will walk with you through it!

OUR PRAYER
Everlasting God ,we come before you today, just as we are. We come with the things that weigh us down. We come with the parts of ourselves we would prefer to hide.
Our regrets,
Our fears,
Our shame.
You know every part of us and yet you call us by name, just as we are. You welcome us in as part of your family. So, we come.
We come to seek your light.
Your peace
Your wholeness
Your hope.
You call us to share your love with the world. To sow hope and build bridges.
We pray that you will strengthen us to be your people of light.
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

THE GREAT COMMITMENT
What a sublime moment it is when we stand to confess with all our heart that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, and commit our all to him as Lord and personal Saviour. In the light of God's infinite love as revealed in the life and death of our Lord, the confession becomes a love-binding commitment lasting to the end of our days. Surely, at such a moment, heaven stoops to listen, the angels above break into singing, and God in Christ binds us to his heart with an everlasting love. Lin D Cartwright

FOR ME, TO LIVE IS CHRIST, TO DIE IS GAIN
Do we tell our stories through the lens of grace, or – when we reflect on our lives to this point – do we prefer to think that we earned our place at this table, that we worked hard for this house, that we are somehow ‘owed’ something?
How do you tell your story?
Paul offers us a powerful example of how we might do it: ‘For me, to live is Christ, to die is gain’. That oft-quoted, oft-misused little sentence is – for me – a great invitation into rethinking our lives. An invitation to let go of the narrative the world is selling us: ‘me,
me, me, more, more, more…etc.’ and embrace a Christ-centric narrative, a story where I see God at work in my life, and make space for God to work through my life in order to touch others.
Then, when we embrace that as a way of life (and it takes work, consistently finding that base-note and returning to it), then we begin to see that our lives are not about ourselves. I am not here for me. I am here for you, for you all, for us.
Me becomes we.
I becomes us.
Selfish becomes community.
Ambition and envy become love.
Greed becomes generosity.
It won’t always be easy, and the challenges of living our lives as if they are not our own is counter to so much of the way the world asks us to think. How might your story become more in line with Jesus’s invitation to be more connected, more neighbourly?
Perhaps you might like to begin, or end, or summarise, with something like Paul’s words: “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”
May your stories be rich with the grace of God,
And may you come to see that grace at work in your life,

YOU ARE THE WORK OF GOD
It is not you who shape God;
it is God that shapes you.
If then you are the work of God,
await the hand of the Artist
who does all things in due season.
Offer the Potter your heart,
soft and tractable,
and keep the form in which
the Artist has fashioned you.
Let your clay be moist,
lest you grow hard and lose
the imprint of the Potter's fingers.
