Wowee, what a fabulous 150th Anniversary celebration. Beautiful food catered for by the Community Arts and Crafts Ladies, and lots of past clergy and parishioners mingling over a drink in the flexi space that is now St Andrew's church.. Good stories and shared memories. The following day a wonderful service led by Damon and supported by a cast of parishioners. I hope you didn't miss the talk by Noeline Watson who gave us a living history of our church - she was baptised here a year or two back! More chats over a cuppa in the hall with homemade shortbread to sweeten the moment. Rev Doreen McKinlay cut the most gorgeous and tasty celebratory cake. On Sunday, the first day of Advent, the fun continued with the normal Sunday service led by Barry which included the blessing of the patchwork done for the occasion by our very own Sandie Ramsay. Pics below.

The excitement is rising here at St Andrew's - the weekend of the 30th November and the 1st of December - YES, its next weekend! - we come together to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the little stone church on the corner of Donegal and Blyth Streets in Cromwell. There is a function on Friday evening (29th) followed by an open church 10 to 12 on the 30th and then the celebratory Service led by our Vicar, Damon Plimmer with an afternoon tea and the cuttiing of the anniversary cake.
So call by and check out this old building with its earthquake strengthened beams done subsequent to the Christchurch earthquake and the anniversary garden - take a seat and check out the 12 Apostles - well maybe they are really emerald cypress trees all standing in a row! Get your little people to have a look at the wee mouse house near the main doors. Everybody welcome and we just love nosey parkers too.
