Sometimes giving back to the community looks a little different.

A huge thank you to Ty (left) and our friends at The Shoe Room in Ferrymead, who have kindly offered to collect clean, warm bedding donations on behalf of the Blanket Bank this winter.

We’re incredibly grateful for the support from local businesses helping keep our community warm.

A huge thank you to two incredibly generous supporters of the Blanket Bank.

Firstly, thank you to Dorothy from LACCT (Linwood Avenue Community Corner Trust), who used community-raised funds to purchase 50 hot water bottles for those in need this winter.

This is their annual appeal that brings warmth and comfort to so many people and whānau.

We would also like to sincerely thank Quest on Kilmore for their generous support of the Blanket Bank. Community kindness like this makes such a real difference and reminds us how lucky we are to have people and businesses willing to help others.

That’s exactly what the Linwood and Woolston Rotary Clubs did. Bev was tasked with dropping off the donations to us today! These will be distributed to our community in need of warm bedding before winter settles in.

The Blanket Bank will be moving premises at the end of this month! While our team are busy moving everything over and setting up the new location, the Blanket Bank will be closed.

Please ensure you get any requests in before March 13th – any requests received after this date have no guarantee of being fulfilled before we move premises at the end of March.

The Blanket Bank will then be closed during April and will reopen on Monday 4th of May.

We thank you for your patience and understanding during this time!

We’re looking for volunteers at the Blanket Bank!

We are seeking stock sorters and sewists (able to sew simple bags for our request orders) to join our friendly, welcoming team.

Stock sorters: Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays, 10.00am – 12.00pm

Sewists: Flexible hours to suit you (depending on access to a sewing machine)

Our small team is warm, supportive, and would love to have you on board. If you’re keen to help our community in a practical and meaningful way, we’d love to hear from you.

Blanket Bank Closed Tomorrow!

Just a quick update to let you know the Blanket Bank will be closed tomorrow - 25th November 2025.

The Christchurch Methodist Mission team and supporters will be attending the public celebration of the work done in our communities across this last year.

We’ll be back open as usual the following day.
