A growing number of leading serious intellectuals are recognising the need for Christianity’s resurrection but can’t quite bring the faith to life in themselves.

Easter Saturday this year is a significant date for our community here in Christchurch as Brother Charles makes Perpetual Profession in our Congregation, in other words he makes lifelong vows of chastity, poverty and obedience according to the charism of the Brothers of Saint John.

All are welcome to join us at 12.05pm this coming Saturday 6 April at Saint Teresa's Church, Puriri Street, Riccarton. A Potluck lunch will follow in St Teresa's Hall afterwards.

Please pray for him that the Holy Spirit will fill him with a total consecration and mould him into a credible witness of Jesus like the Beloved Disciple. Please pray for our Congregation and for vocations to religious life.

Br Justin Lee, Prior Vice-Provincial

Holy Family Parish Holy Week Retreat
"The Paschal Mystery and Christian Prayer"

Holy Wednesday 27 March 7.30pm- 9.00pm
Holy Thursday 28 March 10am - 12.00pm
Holy Saturday 30 March 8am - 12.30pm
Teresa's Hall

Jesus’ Passover – his Passion (suffering), Death and Resurrection – is the central mystery of our Christian faith and the reason why we gather together and celebrate with special solemnity in Holy Week. The Crucified and Risen Christ is also the source of our prayer – in our families, in our parish and personal prayer. This retreat will start from the realization that prayer brings us into the Family of God (Talk 1) – and above all through the Eucharist (Talk 2).

The Prayer of Jesus in Gethsemane and the Compassionate presence of Mary at the foot of the Cross lead us into some fundamental elements of the purification and cultivation of our hearts. (Talks 3-5)

The Brothers of St John released a lengthy report Monday evening (French time) on the deplorable abuses committed by their Founder and a number of their Brothers, entitled "To Understand and To Heal".

In this English-language website, you can find the Press Release in English, as well as two videos that give you the key objectives and findings of the report with English subtitles. The report in French and in entirety is available for download too.

We bow our heads to the victims who suffered and beg for forgiveness. Please pray for them, and pray for us too that we may do everything possible so that these wrongdoings will never be repeated.

Br Justin Lee, Prior Vice-Provincial of Asia-Oceania
