Dear Delta Whānau
It is with a heavy heart that Mary Allan has resigned as Pastor of the Delta Community Baptist church, taking effect from Thursday 1 April.
Mary says of her 3 years with us that these have been the most exciting time in her life. She came to Delta with a passion for encouraging, inspiring, energising, and building a strong faith community. She came to share with us all the hope that comes from Christ our Messiah, the one who brings comfort, peace, and salvation to those who follow Him. We, the Delta Community Baptist Church Leadership Team and the Delta Trust Board acknowledge and thank you, Mary, for all you’ve done for the Church and the whole Delta Whānau towards these ends, for those of us who have grown in faith, relationship with God and hope through your discipleship. We will be organising a farewell for Mary in May and will let everyone know as soon as we confirm the details.
Sadly, our Church’s membership has dropped to a level which requires the Church to come under the administration of the Canterbury Westland Baptist Association (CWBA). This means that CWBA appoints representatives to the Church’s Leadership Team to assist in discerning the Church’s future. Kim Peters (Regional Leader) and Debbie Riach (Chair) of CWBA have already attended one of the Church’s Leadership meetings to assure us of their desire to listen to and support the Church and Delta Trust in discerning the way forward.
Delta Baptist church members have been joining Crossway Community Church for worship the past few Sundays and will continue to do so until a decision is made on the Church’s future. We wish to thank Rev’d.Joohong Kim and the Crossway congregation for their generous hospitality.
