HUNT FOR THE KAKAPO: It happened again yesterday. For the millionth time we got a message from a young adult aged faithful wahine asking us "where have all the eligible men of God gone?".

They're as rare as kakapo, it would seem. Or are they?

So we're on the hunt to see if more eligible Christian-enough Christchurch singles are out there - because perhaps they're all just hiding in the undergrowth? Waiting to be discovered and transported onto a pest-free habitat? (I'll admit the metaphor begins to break down at this point)

So if you know someone you'd like to nominate for our "DATE MY MATE" database so we can get in touch with them and make sure they're into us potentially hooking them up on a few blind dates... please help us out! And if that person is you... ask someone to nominate you!

Rule #1: They have to be "Christian enough".
Rule #2: They have to be "Dateable enough"
Rule #3: They have to be single.

The form is here: https://forms.gle/7dqVMfyTRysbixks9

And to all you peeps who've messaged us asking - you can't say we haven't tried!

Howdy. If for old times sake we were to put on a Salt and Light night sometime soon exploring the Euthanasia and Cannabis referendum - who'd be keen?

FOUR IMAGES | a Meditation for Pentecost
https://soundcloud.com/spankymoore/four-images-meditation-for-pentecost

"In the lead up to Pentecost this Sunday, 4 people explore 4 images that are used in Scripture as Metaphors of the Spirit – and why they find them helpful. We hope this simple might for you and your parishioners open up something new this Pentecost. Featuring contributions from; Rev Annette Cater, Rev Josh Taylor, Barbara McMillan, and Fr. Philip Suelzer."

"Four Images" is a meditation for the season of Pentecost. The Holy Spirit can be a difficult person to understand, and draw near to personally. And so we asked 4 people to explore 4 images that are

Tomorrow night (Tuesday 7th April ) Spanky is running a second workshop session on "CONTEMPLATION IN ISOLATION”. This time with an introduction to cultivating stillness and designing your own "spiritual practice" during lockdown."

You won't need to have come to the first session to follow along, and no faith required. It'll be a pretty basic intro for regular folks. Cynics and saints both welcome.

This time you'll learn a little of the basic contemplative practices that help one to cultivate stillness, how to deal with distractions, and some practical tips on how to design a "spiritual practice" that you could actually turn up to.

Disclaimer: Naturally as I'm an Anglican priest I'll be coming from a Christian perspective on things... but I'm sure you can swallow that for an hour if you're interested enough. I'm certainly not professing to be an expert, just one beggar showing another beggar where to find food!

MAKE 2020 THE YEAR YOU MAKE THE SPACE TO INTENTIONALLY GROW 🌱💪🙏

If you've made a new years resolution to make the most of 2020 but don't want to do that alone, Vocatio could be just what you're looking for. It's a 1 year community for young adults who've tapped out of church, but still want to explore spiritual, emotional and personal growth. And this week we're taking last calls for 'Expressions of Interest' from people who'd like to hear more about it before we kick off for the year. We're almost full up for 2020, so don't be shy!
------------
‘Vocatio’ is a 1 year experimental faith community for young adults based in Christchurch for 2020 - exploring vocation, emotional health and contemplative spirituality. Here’s what some of our 2019 participants had to say about their experience this year...

"Vocatio is helping me become the person I want to be. The benefits of the rhythms, the teaching, and the spiritual direction have extended into every area of my life. I was unsure at first that I was joining a group of weirdos but soon those weirdos became my whanau and my life is better for it!"

"It has been an incredible year. I came in feeling blank and not knowing how to move forward. Vocatio has been a space to re-discover my faith, dream about the future, laugh and feel like people have my back- finally. I think all young adults should give it a try."

"What I have learnt in Vocatio has been life changing for me in the best way. Faith and God is so much more than what I've experienced in church. Vocatio has allow me to understand more at my own pace with people who feel like me."

"Vocatio has been an incredible community to be a part of. The leadership team is phenomenal who are generous and deeply caring. This is the first "church" community where I've felt comfortable to be fully myself. It's refreshingly free of BS and pretense, and people tell it like it is. It is a big commitment but it's absolutely been worth it."

New spaces are very limited for 2020, but we’re on the hunt again for another intake of peeps who fit the following brief:
*18-35 years old
*Not currently part of a church, or is VERY VERY loosely affiliated with one ⛪
*Is keen to explore faith and spirituality 🙏
*Is not completely freaked out by the idea of a one year commitment to something 📆

If you’re interested in finding out more, just fill out our 2 minute expression of interest form (with no strings attached!) and we’ll send you more details on what Vocatio is about and what’s involved. We usual hold a few “tell me more” sessions where we pitch the concept of why and what we do for the year.
