Looking at this weekend's Gospel, Fr Alister reflects on the miracle of the loaves and fishes.

The disciples thought that what they had was too small to make a difference, but when they placed it into the hands of Jesus, everyone was fed (and there were plenty leftover!).

Jesus does not ask us to do everything. He simply asks us to share what we have: a smile, a kind word, a helping hand, or an invitation to join in. Because Jesus can use even the smallest act of love to make a big difference!

How exciting! The Catholic Diocese of Christchurch released this weekend the design of the new Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament - our Mother Church for our Diocese.

We are blessed to have Fr Peter Janssen to be our speaker for our Open Table Theology for July.
He was one of the lectures in Auckland for Te Kupenga - Catholic Theological College (former Good Shepherd College).

He's going to be breaking open the topic of Theology. All young adults welcome this Wednesday (and next).

The Carmelite Sisters warmly invite you to the annual celebration of the Mass of Our Lady of Mt Carmel on Sunday, 19 July at 2.30pm, at the Carmelite Monastery, 52 Halswell Road. Bishop Michael Gielen will be the principal celebrant at a concelebrated Mass, followed by afternoon tea.
