📢 NEW GUIDELINES FOR MISSIONARIES
The Church has released updated information to help prospective missionaries better prepare for service:

1️⃣ Earlier Mission Application Timeline
Applications may now be submitted up to 150 days before availability, allowing more time to prepare spiritually, emotionally, and logistically.

2️⃣ Stronger Focus on Physical & Mental Readiness

Applicants are encouraged to be fully prepared before submitting, including:

✔ Medical and dental examinations
✔ Addressing health conditions early
✔ Completing required vaccinations for assigned areas

3️⃣ Updated Wisdom Teeth Policy
Healthy wisdom teeth no longer require automatic removal.

Removal is only needed if there is disease or risk helping reduce unnecessary procedures and costs.

These updates aim to better prepare missionaries and support families throughout the process.

🗓️ SAVE THE DATE: HUI TAU O AOTEAROA

E ngā mana, e ngā reo, e ngā marae maha p**a noa i te motu, kia mataara!

E te whānau, the dates and location are locked in for the upcoming Hui Tau o Aotearoa 2027. Clear your calendars and prepare to gather in Kirikiriroa.

📜 Ngā Kōrero o Neherā | Our Legacy

The Hui Tau holds a significant place in our history, and gathering in 2027 brings the conference full circle:

1880s: Originated in Te Wairarapa following the prophetic declarations of Pāora Te Pōtangaroa as a place for Māori Latter-day Saints to gather and celebrate both Jesus Christ and Māori culture.

1910s–1940s: Re-invigorated under the leadership of then Mission President Matthew Cowley as a core pillar for the Rongopai and Māori culture, marked by key milestones including being hosted at Kirikiri in Hauraki.

1938: Hosted at Tūrangawaewae Marae under the manaakitanga of Te Puea Hērangi, welcoming Apostle Elder George Albert Smith as part of the celebrations.

1960: Following the 1960 conference, the Hui Tau was paused so the hāhi could focus on establishing stakes and constructing the first Temple of Aotearoa in Hamilton.

2019: Hosted by our Kahungunu whānau at Te Hauke where roughly 59 years of silence was broken and the flame was reignited for this modern era—a fitting tribute to Te Hauke, where the historic translation of the Book of Mormon into Te Reo Māori first began back in the late 1880s.

2021: Passed to the stakes of Kaikohekohe and Whangarei to bring the hui to Te Taitokerau. The Kaikohe Hui Tau officially cemented its return, providing the sacred space for spiritual strengthening, kotahitanga, and gathering Māori to the Saviour Jesus Christ.

In 2027, the mauri of this hui returns to the Waikato—the very place where it was paused to allow the temple to rise. “He huihuinga tēnei hei whakapakari wairua, whakamaumahara, me te whakanui i tō tātou Ariki a Ihu Te Karaiti.”
