What if the Holy Spirit isn’t just calling us to go—but first to wait?

Last Sunday, Pastor Aidan Wivell unpacked the story of Pentecost as he continues our Come Holy Spirit series, reminding us that God’s mission often follows a simple rhythm: wait, receive, go.

Before the disciples changed the world, they spent time together in prayer, waiting on God. Before they were sent, they were filled.

Sometimes we’re so eager to get moving that we forget to pause long enough to hear God’s voice, receive His guidance, and be empowered by His Spirit.

Aidan invited us to pause and ask: What am I so focused on that I might be missing what God is doing?

Are there distractions, disappointments, fears, or comforts keeping you stuck? Or are you posturing yourself to receive afresh from the Holy Spirit and step into all that God has for you?

The same Spirit that empowered the early church is at work today. Come, Holy Spirit.

Behind every ministry, event, coffee, conversation and welcome is a person choosing to serve.

By day they're hairdressers, GMs, engineers, musicians, scientists, teachers, tradies, students, retirees, and so more. On Sundays and throughout the week, they use their gifts, skills and time to make a difference in the lives of others.

We're incredibly grateful for the hundreds of volunteers who help make Windsor the community it is. Your faithfulness, generosity and heart to serve do not go unnoticed. Thank you.

Interested in using your gifts to serve at Windsor? We'd love to help you find a place to get involved. Check out the opportunities available via the link below:

Last Sunday, Pastor Aidan Wivell continued our Come Holy Spirit series with a message titled: Never Alone.

Drawing from Jesus' farewell words to His disciples in John 14–16, we explored His promise that He would not leave His followers as orphans, but would send the Holy Spirit to be their Comforter, Helper, Advocate, and Guide.

One of the key themes of the message was embracing a both-and faith, rather than an either-or faith.

📖 Scripture *and* the Spirit
🧠 Deep thinking *and* deep feeling
🌱 Spiritual fruit *and* spiritual gifts
🙏 Prayerful discernment *and* wise planning

Jesus called the Holy Spirit the "Spirit of Truth"—the One who teaches us, reminds us of His words, and helps us follow Him. The Spirit doesn't compete with God's Word or God's people; He works through them.

As Jesus promised in John 14:18, "I will not leave you as orphans." Through the Holy Spirit, we are never alone. God is with us—comforting, guiding, teaching, and drawing us deeper into the Father's love.

This week, spend some time reading John 14–16 and reflecting on Jesus' promise. What area of your life needs the reminder that you are not alone? Ask the Holy Spirit to meet you there.

This Sunday we explore Jesus’ final promises to His disciples before the cross, and the extraordinary gift He leaves them: the Holy Spirit. In the midst of fear, uncertainty, and goodbye, Jesus assures His followers they will never be abandoned — the Spirit will come alongside them as advocate, counsellor, teacher, and guide. Together we’ll discover what it means to live with the active presence of God within us, and why Jesus could say that the coming of the Spirit was actually better than His physical presence beside them.

This weekend we’re jumping back into our Come Holy Spirit mini-series with a message from Pastor Aidan Wivell titled: Never Alone, preaching from John 14:15–16:14.

This Sunday we’ll explore Jesus’ words to His disciples in the lead-up to the cross — words filled with comfort, promise and hope. In the midst of uncertainty and goodbye, Jesus assures them they will not be left alone, but will receive the Holy Spirit: their advocate, counsellor, teacher, and guide. Together we’ll discover what it means to live with God’s presence with us every day.

Wherever you find yourself this long weekend, we’d love for you to join us!

Yesterday we celebrated 75 years of our church with a message from 2 Corinthians 2:14–16, reflecting on what it means to be “the aroma of Christ” in the world. From a small gathering in Outram Hall in 1951 to the vibrant community that Windsor is today, we remembered God’s faithfulness through every season.

We honoured the generations who prayed, served, sacrificed, built, gave, taught, led, and carried the mission of Jesus faithfully — often in unseen ways — so others could encounter His grace.

But this wasn’t just about looking back with gratitude. It was also a recommissioning for the future. As Pastor Grant Harris reminded us: we don’t honour 75 years by preserving a museum. We honour it by continuing the mission.

May we continue to carry the aroma of Christ into our homes, our community, and the next generation — with courage, humility, generosity, and hope.

“Thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere.” — 2 Corinthians 2:14

What would it look like to carry the fragrance of Jesus into your world?

23/05/2026

As Windsor marks 75 years, this message reflects on God’s faithfulness through generations of prayer, sacrifice, and mission that began in a small community hall and continues today. Drawing from 2 Corinthians 2:14–16, it explores Paul’s powerful image of the church as the “aroma of Christ," a people called to carry the presence of Jesus into the world. As we give thanks for the past, we are also challenged not to settle into nostalgia but to step boldly into renewed mission for the future. This anniversary becomes a moment of recommissioning, asking how we will continue to live as the aroma of Christ in our city and beyond.

Sermon Recap: Come Holy Spirit | Joel 2:28

Last Sunday, Pastor Grant Harris kicked off our new mini-series, Come Holy Spirit: Knowing, Loving and Living in His Presence, with a message titled: Pneumatology Is Worth The Effort.

Tracing the story of the Holy Spirit from Genesis to Revelation, Grant reminded us that the Spirit of God has always been bringing life — creating, empowering, renewing, guiding, and transforming people throughout Scripture, and still today.

As we explored the Spirit’s work across history, we were invited not just into more information, but into deeper surrender — making room for the Holy Spirit to speak, renew, comfort, guide, and empower us in our everyday lives.

The same Spirit who hovered over creation, empowered Jesus, and filled the early church at Pentecost is still moving today — still bringing life where things feel weary, dry, or broken.

Our encouragement for you this week is simple: make a little room for the Holy Spirit. Pause. Listen. Pray. Invite Him into the ordinary moments of your day — and remain open to the ways He may be speaking, guiding, comforting, and renewing you.

“Holy Spirit, speak to me.
Holy Spirit, change me.
Holy Spirit, renew me.
Holy Spirit

These photos capture such a special part of Windsor’s story. ❤️

Around 30 years ago, our community came together in an incredible act of faith and vision after purchasing the site we now call home — a former pub and motel transformed into a place of worship, community, care, and belonging. People rolled up their sleeves to clean, paint, build, and prepare the space, and some even mortgaged their homes to help make it possible.

What a beautiful picture of sacrificial faith, shared vision, and people committed to building a church for all.

As we prepare to celebrate 75 years of Windsor this Sunday, we’d love to hear from you. Do you have a special memory, story, or reflection from your time here? Whether it was 70 years ago or just last week — pop it in the comments below. 👇

This year, we have the privilege of celebrating 30 years of mainly music at Windsor!

For three decades, this ministry has been filled with music and movement, crafts and morning teas — but even more importantly, with intentional love, care and connection for every person who walks through the doors each week.

Our team pours so much time, energy, creativity, and aroha into creating this special space, and what a gift it has been for so many families over the years!

Thank you to those who serve now, and to all who have volunteered in the past. Together, you’ve created a beautiful place where little ones and their grown-ups can come each week to have fun, learn, connect, and feel deeply loved 🥰

Did you know that we support 15 people and projects Beyond The Walls of Windsor, who are actively sharing the hope, love and transformation of Jesus in real, tangible ways, both locally and globally?

Today we want to introduce you to one of the groups that we support: Urban Neighbours of Hope [UNOH].

UNOH is a grassroots Christian movement choosing to live in neighbourhoods facing urban poverty—not as visitors, but as neighbours.

Instead of coming in with programmes and quick fixes, they move into communities long-term. They share everyday life—school runs, conversations over fences, shared meals, birthdays, tangi, and the ordinary rhythms of the street.

At the heart of UNOH is a simple but powerful belief: people are not problems to be solved, but image-bearers with gifts, dignity, and leadership already within them.

Across neighbourhoods like Randwick Park, Clendon Park, and Wainuiomata, transformation grows slowly and relationally—through trust, friendship, and local people discovering their own strength and capacity to shape change.

UNOH is also unapologetically Jesus-centred. They believe God is already present and at work in these places, and they are joining in that story through presence, prayer, and everyday faithfulness.

This is not fast work. It’s not distant work. It’s life shared, over time, in the places people call home.

Thanks to your generosity, and the mahi and belief of the team at UNOH, lives are being changed, every single day. How good!

Sermon Recap: Salt | Luke 14:25–35

Last Sunday, Pastor Caleb Finlayson wrapped up Part 2 of our King & Kingdom Come series with a challenging message from Luke 14 titled: Salt. Unpacked Jesus’ call to wholehearted discipleship, Caleb reminded us that following Him isn’t passive—it requires a clear choice, deep allegiance, and a willingness to count the cost.

Using the powerful image of salt, Caleb highlighted that we are made to influence the world around us, not be shaped by it. Just as salt brings flavour, preserves, and transforms whatever it touches, so too are we called to bring the life and presence of Jesus into our everyday spaces. But when we lose that distinctiveness—when we blend in or become passive—we lose sight of what we were made for.

At the heart of the message was a confronting question: are we truly living as salt, or have we become dulled by the world around us?

Caleb finished with a clear invitation—to step out of comfort and live with intentional influence. Not in theory, but in the small, everyday moments where we choose to follow Jesus with courage and obedience.

This week, take one intentional step to be “salt.”
Step into a conversation, extend an invitation, or show up differently in a space you’re already in—and ask God to use you to bring His life and love to those around you.
