Greetings
We greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, with words from apostle Paul to the Ephesians, “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people”(Eph 6:18). As people of faith they are often think of war as glamorous – until they or someone they know becomes a casualty. The same in the spiritual arena. Make no mistake: whether they are aware of it or not, all Christians are engaged in a very real spiritual battle between two opposition kingdoms. So, Paul encourages the church in Ephesus that their ‘battle is not with flesh and blood but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms’ (Eph6:12)
King David was a powerful strong warrior who was known to be ‘the man after God’s own heart,’(1 Sam 13:14). As a young shepherd for his father Jesse, in the desert he protected his father’s sheep by killing a bear and a lion with his bear hands. He became more famous than his king, king Saul after he killed the Philistine giant Goliath with one stone while he was still a youth. Even though he wins so many a battle even against many kings surrounding Israel he was not able to overcome the battle within himself which is the spiritual battle.
A Te Whanau E Te Karaiti, we are reminded by Paul as he encouraged the church in Ephesus, we must pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of petition and requests, and pray as well for all our brothers and sisters in Christ that we may prevail against all spiritual forces of darkness. All thoughts and vile tricks comes into our minds from Satan. Therefore, we must not conform to Satan’s patterns, but be transformed by the renewing of our mind in prayer.
