Greetings
We greet you in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ, with words from Paul to his brother Timothy, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in prayer” (1 Tim 4:12). We know Timothy is a young pastor and Paul realizes if Timothy focuses on his youthfulness then that will be an adversity and a problem, therefore, Paul wants him to face the challenges of the church and the world with these sets of examples. Paul exhorts him to be an example, especially in word when he speaks, in conduct which is his lifestyle, in love and how he relate to each other, in spirit his attitude and his outlook on life, in faith his doctrine and dependance on Christ alone, and in purity his sexual morality. Young David knew how this works when he was facing Goliath. Thou he was young, inexperienced and may be intimidated by an experienced strong warrior, David’s trust was in God who is the source of everything he needs to face any challenges in life. So, I implore you to hold fast to this encouragement from Paul to Timothy, that we set an example in what we say and how we live our lives with love that come from God through Jesus Christ in continuous prayer and thanksgiving for all our brothers.

Greetings
We greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, with words from apostle Paul to the Ephesians, “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people”(Eph 6:18). As people of faith they are often think of war as glamorous – until they or someone they know becomes a casualty. The same in the spiritual arena. Make no mistake: whether they are aware of it or not, all Christians are engaged in a very real spiritual battle between two opposition kingdoms. So, Paul encourages the church in Ephesus that their ‘battle is not with flesh and blood but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms’ (Eph6:12)
King David was a powerful strong warrior who was known to be ‘the man after God’s own heart,’(1 Sam 13:14). As a young shepherd for his father Jesse, in the desert he protected his father’s sheep by killing a bear and a lion with his bear hands. He became more famous than his king, king Saul after he killed the Philistine giant Goliath with one stone while he was still a youth. Even though he wins so many a battle even against many kings surrounding Israel he was not able to overcome the battle within himself which is the spiritual battle.

A Te Whanau E Te Karaiti, we are reminded by Paul as he encouraged the church in Ephesus, we must pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of petition and requests, and pray as well for all our brothers and sisters in Christ that we may prevail against all spiritual forces of darkness. All thoughts and vile tricks comes into our minds from Satan. Therefore, we must not conform to Satan’s patterns, but be transformed by the renewing of our mind in prayer.

MID–WEEK FELLOWSHIP
Thanks to Jim, Ivan and all of you attended our mid-week fellowship. My apology as I was not able to be there due to a cold. Thank God, I am feeling much better today and I trust that I’ll be good to be at church on Sunday. I am looking forward to our next month worship and fellowship.

SYNOD WESLEY CELEBRATION

VISION – REFLECTING TOGETHER
Please, pray for a great time of visioning and reflection together on our VISION so, that the Holy Spirit will help us discerning what and how we weave together a live plan to make our vision to become God’s mission into our community. We hope to have our visioning after we put up our vision on the wall and blessed.

Greetings

We greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ with words from the apostle Paul, “for, everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” Rom 10:13. Paul encourages the Christians and the member of the church in Rome that whoever believes on Jesus will not be put to shame. For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon him. So, whoever calls on the name of the Lord, Jesus shall be saved. Please, be reminded, that the Lord Jesus is the name to call. In joy and in sorrows we can call because he promised, he will hears us when we call.

MIDWEEK WOMEN & MEN FELLOWSHIP

We are looking forward to our first midweek fellowship on Thursday 23rd 10:30 am at the hall. Please, let us Ivan, Bruce, and myself know if you need transport. And if you know a friend that would like to share and fellowship with us, you are welcome to invite them.

WORSHIP COMMITTEE

The worship committee held their first meeting on Wednesday 15 March at the hall. There were some suggestions as well as discussions of how to better our worship services for both congregations. The next meeting will be on Tuesday 16 May, 10:30am at the hall.

MEET & GREET

We had a great evening with leaders from the Tongan and Fijian congregation. The reason for this meeting, is to start a pathway to build closer relationship across our parish members. We share our hope, dreams, and concerns for our parish as well as our community. Some agreed it was a good night and we look forward with hope for more and better things for the parish as a Methodist family in this community.

What a great time we had last Sunday. We had a visit from a group of Chinese children from the "Sparkiling Minds Education Ltd".
I have known Deanna and Michael for 10 years and they do wonderful things for Chinese children who are in NZ for their education, sharing experiences with them and giving them insight to NZ diverse cultures.
On Sunday, our children welcomed them to our church, and we spent a wonderful morning together, getting to know each other and learning about our cultures, while we shared the story of Easter.
Great fun was had at the picnic in the park, with yummy pizzas and other food people brought to share.
We look forward to meeting our new friends again.

Greetings,
We greet you in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ with words from Jude, “But you, beloved, build yourselves up on your most holy faith; pray in the Holy Spirit; keep yourselves in the love of God; look forward to the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life” (Jude 1:20–21). We learnt from news bulletin every day about the natural disasters that causes havoc around the world and here in Aotearoa. The floods in Auckland cost up to billions dollars in damages and 4 people died; the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria that claims thousands of lives and still counting. Also the man-made disasters of drugs in our communities which causes death, suffering, and devastations in so many lives. What we must do for building ourselves up? It’s time to let God strengthen us. it’s time to let God build up our inner person. Let His Word lead us. Let His Word guide us. Let His Word restore us. Let his Word refresh us, His Word establish us, His Power strengthen every area of our lives. Pray in the Holy Spirit for guidance, nourishment, and strength to go through all adversities that we face. As He promised, He will be with us always.

A group of Chinese children will join us on Sunday morning before they go out together with our children for Sunday school activity. Please join me and Frann welcoming them into our midst. An Invitation extends to everyone to join with the children for picnic at Samuel Miller Reserve in Nelson St, Pukekohe. Please bring drinks and food to share.
The following Sunday 19th Ronella, helper, and a group of children from our community will join us at church to welcome them before they go out as normal Sunday school activity. This is part of the future plan that we will have a community children ministry focus on the third Sunday of each month.

Greetings
We greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ with word from James epistles, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance” (James 1:2–3). James began with pure encouragement, commenting to believers the “pure joy” that was theirs in the face of “trials of many kinds.” Being brothers and sisters in Christ means sharing in the testing of their faith. James encouraged them to embrace their trials not for what they were but for what God could accomplish in them. What are the trials and test we are facing today? Let us be encouraged that our trials is for faith strengthening so that we may be able to persevere to receive his promise until he returns.

COMBINED COMMUNION SERVICE
We look forward to worship with our Tongan & Fijian brothers and sisters this Sunday. We trust the presence of the Holy Spirit will be in our midst to bless us as we worship. Service starts at 9:30am Sunday morning 5th February 2023.
