The Community of Saint Luke

The Community of Saint Luke The most obvious feature of the Community is its relationship to a worshipping community.

The Community of Saint Luke seeks to be a nurturing community where each is committed to the spiritual and personal well-being of all and where all who come are accepted and respected. The congregation comes from both the local suburbs and wider Auckland to share in the particular style of worship and liberal theological emphasis that characterises Saint Lukes. The Community of Saint Luke seeks to

explore the meaning of life with enthusiasm, intelligence and openness. Our slogan "The thinking heart" expresses our desire to integrate intellect, emotion, action, play and the spiritual dimension. We recognise and value the diversity of the many people who are part of our Community. We want to stand alongside other belief systems and journeys of exploration with our own unique but inclusive insights.

Sunday Service Update – Moving Online 🌧️

This coming Sunday, with a cyclone expected to impact Auckland bringing high winds and heavy rain, we’ll be gathering online instead of in person.

Your safety matters - so while our doors may be closed physically, our community remains open and connected.

This week, Glynn Cardy reflects on the post-crucifixion stories of Jesus and what we have come to understand as resurrection.

Easter Sunday | A way of living

In his Easter reflection, Glynn Cardy invites us to see resurrection not just as something we believe, but as a way of living.

A way of choosing goodness.
A way of showing up for others.
A way of creating something better, together.

✨ Even when goodness is buried… it still finds a way to rise.

The Easter day service will include a children's talk, communion, the flowering cross, and Easter goodies for morning tea.

Good Friday | A moment to pause 🕊

What do we do with darkness, fear, and suffering?

In today’s reflection, Glynn explores the reality that some days feel heavy - and yet even in those moments, we can still be light for one another.

✨ “We are the fragile stars that need to shine… for others and for us.”

A powerful evening of community, care, and connection. 🤍

This event was brought together to stand in clear rejection of the Government’s proposed move-on policy - and to show, in action, how we believe people sleeping rough in our city should be treated.

In partnership with Te Ohu Whakawhanaunga and Sunday Blessings Tāmaki Makaurau, the evening created space for real whanaungatanga, kai, and kōrero — bringing together members of the street community, our wider alliance, Aucklanders, and local activists.

Support services were present throughout, connecting people with emergency accommodation and ensuring everyone left either with a warm, safe place to stay - or the option to access one.

A special moment from the night: Alison and Alexa supported people to enrol on the Electoral Roll - with 20 people signed up, many voting for the very first time.

This is what community looks like.
This is what dignity looks like.
This is what action looks like.
