Are you tired of the yuck in your life?

Why do our lives get so messed up? Why do so many of our relationships go wrong? Why do we feel so guilty, dirty, confused?

It’s a heart problem:

‘For out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks'. (Matthew 6:45). 'The things that come out of the mouth come from the heart, and these things defile a man. For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, all sexual immorality, theft, lying, and slander’ (Matthew 15:18, 19) - Jesus

Our problem is sin. Everything listed above (and so much more) is what God in the Bible calls sin. We’re all born with a heart that only and always wants to sin. That's why we end up doing all those things Jesus mentioned - things that make our lives full of yuck.

Our sinful hearts not only wreck our lives here and now, they also cut us off from the only one who can really help us - God. ‘Everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s glorious standard’ (Romans 3:23). ‘It’s your sins that have cut you off from God. Because of your sins, he has turned away’ (Isaiah 59:2).

Following our heart causes massive problems for us - not just here and now, but forever. ‘For the wages of sin is death’ (Romans 6:23) - this is terrible news! This means our sinful hearts cause us to die and then to be cut off forever from God and all that is good, loving, kind - there will be no resting in peace!

But there’s hope. God knows about our sin problem and has come to our rescue. ‘This is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life’ (John 3:16). 'For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ' (2 Corinthians 5:21). So now ‘the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord’ (Romans 6:23). This gift is for everyone, including you. No one is beyond God’s ability to forgive and rescue from death.

How do we get this gift of eternal life instead of eternal death?
Here’s the how to:
1. Repent and Confess. ‘If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness’ (1 John 1:9).
2. Believe. ‘If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.’ (Romans 10:9).
3. Be born again. ‘Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!’ (2 Corinthians 5:17).

Would you like to fix the sin problem in your heart today? You need a new heart. You can pray to God today and get right with Him. He can give you a new heart & mind right now.
