Today marks the one year anniversary of the consecration of His Grace Mar Benyamin Elya, Bishop of Victoria and New Zealand. ACEYA Sydney would like to congratulate His Grace on this achievement. We pray that your shepherdhood may be blessed and that our good God will continue to hold your hand as you keep His flock!

The Assyrian Church of the East is proud to commence planning its first theological college in the diaspora. The Nisibis Theological College will be located in Sydney and plans to open its doors in 2020. The first of many meetings took place with Prof Diane P Speed, Dean and CEO of the Sydney College of Divinity in Sydney on Thursday 7 June. The Dean met with a delegation of prelates and clergy to discuss this new project. Those present were:

• HB Mar Meelis Zaia AM Metropolitan of Australia, New Zealand, and Lebanon
• HG Mar Awa Royel, Bishop of California
• HG Mar Paulus Benjamin, Bishop of Eastern USA
• HG Mar Abris Youkhanan, Bishop of Erbil and its Environs
• HG Mar Benyamin Elya, Bishop of Victoria and New Zealand
• Rev Fr and Archdeacon William Toma, Scribe of the Holy Synod and Parish Priest of St Sargis' Church, Chicago
• Rev Fr and Chorbishop Narsai Youkhanis, Secretary to the Archbishop

We pray to Almighty God for His blessings and guidance as the Holy Church embarks on this much needed project. May we see this vision come to fruition as we progress with the assistance of the SCD to establish a tertiary education institution for the clergy and faithful of the Holy Church.
