THE HEART OF OUR HEAVENLY FATHER FOR THE LOST
"Tax collectors and other notorious sinners often came to listen to Jesus teach. This made the Pharisees and teachers of religious law complain that Jesus was associating with such sinful people—even eating with them."
📖 Luke 15:1-2
THE PARABLE OF THE LOST SHEEP
📖 Luke 15:3-4
"Jesus told them the story of the man who had 100 sheep, and one got lost. He left behind 99, and went after just one lost sheep."
This parable reveals God's personal care and pursuit of each lost soul.
FINDING THE LOST
📖 Luke 15:5 tells us:
"When he found it, He joyfully carried it home on His shoulders."
Reveals the heart of our Heavenly Father.
GOD REJOICES
📖 Luke 15:6
"He called his neighbors and friends saying, 'Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.'"
HEAVEN REJOICES OVER ONE SOUL

"There is more joy in heaven when one lost person repents and returns to God, than 99 who are heading to heaven."
OUR HEAVENLY FATHER'S MOTHERLY LOVE FOR THE LOST
📖 Luke 15:8-10 — Parable of the Lost Coin
OUR HEAVENLY FATHER'S MOTHERLY LOVE FOR THE LOST
Jesus deliberately used the Parable of a WOMAN who lost a coin (just one coin) to explain the motherly love of God.
She got a light, swept the entire house, and searched carefully UNTIL SHE FOUND IT.
God will not stop searching until a lost person is found.
The coin was lost inside her own house.
Lost coin = Lost person
THE LOVE OF GOD THE FATHER FOR THE LOST SON OR DAUGHTER
📖 Luke 15:11-23 — Parable of a Father and Two Sons
The Father in this parable represents God the Father.
📖 V.12 — Father gave His younger son his inheritance. God cannot violate freewill.
📖 V.13 — The son packed up and moved far away. He wasted all his money in wild living.
📖 John 10:10 — Satan comes to steal, kill and destroy!
BAD CHOICES WE MAKE IN LIFE HAVE DISASTROUS IMPACT
📖 Luke 15 : End of V.13 — "...And he wasted all his money in wild living"
📖 V.14 — His money ran out. A great famine came and he began to starve.
📖 V.15 — He took the most dishonorable job — feeding pigs.
ROCK BOTTOM
📖 Luke 15:16 — No One Helped Him
📖 V.16 — He became so hungry that even pigs' food looked good to eat. No one helped him.
Bad decisions landed him there.
Some people keep going the wrong direction until they hit rock bottom before they realize things have gotten so bad.
📖 LUKE 15:17 "HE FINALLY CAME TO HIS SENSES"
Great Decision to Return Home
He said to himself, "At home, even servants have enough food to spare, and here I am dying of hunger."
📖 V.18 — "I will go home to my father and say, Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you. I am not worthy to be called a son."
TRUE REPENTANCE — RETURNING HOME
📖 Luke 15:18-19 — Repent = Return Home to Daddy
He returned to his Father in true repentance.
Church: Sad to see some people disconnect themselves from their senses. They keep going the wrong direction even though they can see they are heading to more pain and destruction.
THE HEART OF A LOVING FATHER
📖 Luke 15:20-22 — Immediate Restoration
📖 V.20 — While he was still a long way off, his Father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, He ran to His son, embraced him and kissed him.
The Father kept His eyes on that direction every day, hoping for his son's return.
Church: Whichever direction you took to move away from God, He is watching, hoping for the day you return.
IMMEDIATE RESTORATION OF POSITION AND STATUS
📖 Luke 15:21-22 — Restored as a Son
📖 V.21 — The son expressed his repentance with carefully chosen words.
📖 V.22 — Immediate Restoration:
1. Finest Robe — belongs to the Father, affirmed heir,
cherished family member.
2. Ring — restoration of authority in the family.
3. Sandals — freedom from slavery.
THE CELEBRATION IN HEAVEN WHEN ONE SINNER RETURNS HOME
V.23 — "Kill the calf we have been fattening. We must celebrate with a feast."
God used the best to celebrate the return of a lost person.
V.24 — "For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found."
