When someone you love starts drifting from faith, what do you do? Write them off? Look the other way?

James ends his letter with a powerful rescue mission: “He who turns a sinner from the error of his ways will save his soul from death and will cover a multitude of sins.” (James 5:19-20)

Real faith doesn’t abandon wanderers—it goes after them with prayer, truth, and gentle grace. Before we step in, we must examine our own hearts (Matthew 7). Are we walking in humility? Can we speak truth without crushing? Then, like the Good Shepherd, we pursue with love that’s both tender and truthful.

After all, Jesus came after us when we were lost. Now we become instruments of that same grace.

What should we do when someone we love begins to drift from the truth?

James ends his letter with a rescue mission:

“My brethren, if any among you strays from the truth, and one turns him back…”
James 5:19-20 (NASB77)

Real faith does not write people off.

It does not excuse sin.
But neither does it abandon sinners.

In this final message from our James series, Pastor Ian Buckley looks at how we can help restore a wandering believer with prayer, truth, gentleness, and grace.

PRAY LIKE IT MATTERS 🙏🏼

Some of us are walking through stuff we don’t even know how to say out loud…but James 5 reminds us — we don’t have to hold it in.

Suffering? Pray 🙏🏼
Joy? Praise 🙌🏼
Broken? Come close anyway 🫂

Prayer is where we stop carrying it alone and start trusting the One who can hold it all.

“The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective” — James 5:16

🤍 Need prayer? Comment or DM us. We’d love to pray with and for you 🤲🏼

When life gets heavy, what’s your first response? Worry? Google? Replay the problem endlessly in your mind? James 5:13-18 reminds us that prayer shouldn’t be our last resort—it should be our first instinct. 🙏🏼

James, known as “Camel Knees” for his devoted prayer life, shows us that prayer belongs in every season: when suffering weighs us down, when sickness leaves us weak, when sin needs confessing, and when joy fills our hearts. He writes that “the effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much”—not because we’re impressive, but because our God is extraordinary.

What will you bring to God in prayer today?

What do we do when life is heavy, sickness leaves us weak, sin has been hiding, or a specific need weighs on our heart?

James 5:13-18 reminds us that prayer is not the emergency exit after every other door has closed. Prayer is the instinct of a dependent Christian.

In this message, Pray Like It Matters, we see how real faith brings every circumstance to God - suffering, joy, sickness, confession, and specific needs.

God has not called us to control every outcome. He has invited us to come to Him.

How do you respond when you've tried to do everything right, but you're still misunderstood, misjudged, or wronged?

James 5:7-12 gives us four powerful commands for these painful moments:
⏳Wait for God's timing—like a farmer trusts the rain, trust God's work over your need for immediate revenge.
❤️‍🔥Strengthen your heart—cast your burden on the Lord who sustains you (Psalm 55:22).
🫢Refuse to grumble—don't let your pain leak onto those around you.
🗣️Speak with integrity—let your yes be yes and your no be no, without exaggeration or manipulation.

When you’ve been wronged, misunderstood, or unfairly treated, the natural response is to defend yourself, get even, or make sure the other person feels what they made you feel.

But James 5:7-12 gives us a better way.

God calls us to wait without revenge, strengthen our hearts, refuse grumbling, and speak with integrity because the Lord is near and He is still working.

This week’s message, When You’ve Been Wronged, Wait On God, is a practical and biblical word for anyone learning how to do right when they’ve been done wrong.

💐 Mother’s Day sermon recap

The path from overwhelmed to overflowing isn't about trying harder. It's about: resting in the Shepherd's care, staying connected to Jesus daily, choosing gratitude over complaint, and letting His grace flow through you. As 2 Corinthians 9:8 promises, God makes "all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work."

You don’t have to be enough - Jesus is.

When His grace fills your heart, it naturally overflows into the lives of others. 🙏🏼
