Executive Committee Update

At the NZPUC Executive Committee meeting last week, Pr. Kirsten Lundquist was appointed an Executive Committee member, replacing Pr. Sarah-Jane Reilly who has been called to serve at the South Pacific Division. We wish Pr. Reilly God’s blessing in her new role.

Secretary-Treasurer Kheir Boutros presented a report on the NZPUC’s partnership with the Middle East North Africa Union (MENA), highlighting the difficulties of ministry amid ongoing war and calling for prayer. An annual offering collected across the NZPUC supports MENA projects including the Break Free outreach program.

Kheir also reported that despite a slight increase in new members, overall membership reflects a net loss, closing 2025 at 22,638. This is largely due to an ongoing process of updating records to more accurately reflect active membership.

The committee approved the 2026–2027 budget, which includes $350,000 designated towards mission. Recognising the diversity of our Union, training in witnessing, disciplemaking, and church planting — using both personal and media tools — will be a priority in carrying out One Voice New Zealand Pacific in this season of South Pacific for Christ.

Finding Steadiness When You Feel You Can’t Do Anything Right

On hard days, criticism hits differently. Beth Thomas reminds us that feedback speaks to our actions, not our identity. Not all critique is accurate — discernment isn’t defensiveness. When overwhelmed, slow down: that pause is wisdom, not weakness. Skills grow gradually, confidence builds slowly, and God’s guidance is steady. You are more than your hardest day.

HYVE South Pacific 2026
What happens when business leaders stop asking whether their work matters to God and finally hear the answer? At HYVE South Pacific 2026, held at Papatoetoe Seventh-day Adventist Community Church, that answer filled the room with conviction. Founders, professionals, and entrepreneurs gathered for a weekend many later described as practical, honest, relevant and deeply inspiring. One attendee said it was “overflowing with excellence, relevance and real life.” Another admitted he now avoids conferences, yet HYVE exceeded every expectation. One of the attendees later called it one of the best conferences he had ever attended. This was more than an event. It was affirmation.
