The AIFC is mourning the passing of its former executive committee member Daud Azimullah on 20 February. Here are some comments from the members of the committee remembering his work and commitment to Interfaith work:
“I remember Daud to be a thorough gentleman, radiating positive energy whenever you met him.”
“Br Daud served on our committee for several years after I joined, and even in the time I knew him, it was clear how deeply respected he was—both within the Muslim community and across our interfaith circles.”
“He was a very approachable man and very faithful to the AIFC . I will include him in my prayers over the next few weeks”.
May his memory be a blessing and a source of comfort to all who mourn him.

BUILDING A CLIMATE OF HOPE- CLIMATE CHANGE MEETING REPORT
At the end of the World Interfaith Harmony Week 2026, more than 50 participants of 15 different faiths or religious groups met for a workshop in Browns Bay, Auckland, to discuss their personal and communal contributions of how they could mitigate Climate Change while also looking at ways of adapting to the impacts of climate change.

This workshop, organised by the Auckland Inter-Faith Council (AIFC), was part of the launch of a new short book published by the Religious Diversity Centre (RDC): ‘E tū te mana o te ao: Building a Climate of Hope – Faith and Action Guide’. It was written by the Religious Diversity Centre Climate Action Group.

It was fascinating to see that some first time visitors met people of other faiths with whom they unknowingly shared friends or points of connections.
