St James Anglican Church Mangere Bridge

St James Anglican Church Mangere Bridge Welcome to Saint James Anglican Church, Māngere Bridge. We belong to Te Takiwā o Manukau.

St James was built in the 1850's by tangata whenua, with rock carried down from Te Pane o Mataoho/Māngere mountain.

Tēnā koutou e ngā mana, e ngā minita, me ngā reimana o Te Pihopatanga o Te Tai Tokerau,

This Monday, 2 September, Te Tai Tokerau iwi will be welcomed onto Tūrangawaewae Marae at 8:00 AM for the pōwhiri to pay respects to Kīngi Tūheitia. Bishop Kito will be joining Te Tai Tokerau iwi, and I encourage all from our churches to come together in a strong, united front to support him and Te Tai Tokerau iwi.

This is an important time for us to stand with Bishop Kito as we pay our respects to Kīngi Tūheitia and support the whānau pani. Your presence alongside our Bishop will be significant—a demonstration of our unity of purpose and aroha as we uphold our tikanga during this time of mourning.

Details for the Day:
🌿 Date and Time: Monday, 2 September, at 8:00 AM
🌿 Location: Tūrangawaewae Marae, Ngāruawāhia
🌿 Dress Code: Formal attire is required (clerical or equivalent).

Travel Information:
🌿 There is no central rendezvous point; everyone will travel in their own vehicles, allowing flexibility based on your starting locations.
🌿 For those interested in carpooling, please coordinate within your congregations (e.g., Holy Sepulchre or Te Karaiti).

Parking and Shuttle Services:
🌿 Parking is limited at Tūrangawaewae Marae. The advice to all attendees is to park at Hopuhopu. Shuttle buses will run on a rolling basis to transport attendees to and from the marae. Pickup and drop-off will be at Kent Street.
🌿 Follow the directions of parking wardens upon arrival at Hopuhopu.

Important Notes:
🌿 Please bring warm clothing, water, snacks, and any necessary medications.
🌿 Tūrangawaewae Marae is a v**e, smoke, drug, and alcohol-free marae. Please be mindful of these tikanga.

As we come together to pay our respects to Kīngi Tūheitia and support the whānau pani, it's a time to reflect on our shared faith and the hope we hold. In life and in death, we belong to the Lord. As Scripture says:

"For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s."
Romans 14:8 (ESV)
Kia noho te Atua ki a koutou i tēnei wā o te pouri.

Hei konā mai,
Katene Eruera
Archdeacon, Te Tai Tokerau

Bishop Kito invites you to attend and support an evensong service at 6pm tomorrow night, here at Tātai Hono Marae - Te Mīhana Māori. The hui is seeking to strengthen Military Chaplains from across the Pacific and to promote the role of Christian voice and interaction, especially to get an understanding of what is expected if one is deployed in the Pacific Islands. There will be Military Chaplains of Tongan, Samoan, and Fijian descent - as well as international guests. https://www.facebook.com/events/1178129699876211

It takes a community to help a community back onto its feet.
We want to thank another group of community organisations who have supported whānau who lost so much through the Auckland Floods. Every dollar given to Visionwest is used to bring encouragement and hope to displaced whānau by providing practical and wellbeing support that will get them through this time and support them into the future.
A huge thanks to The Tindall Foundation via Baptist NZ , Little Kowhai Trust, Central Church, St James Anglican Church Mangere Bridge , Korean Presbyterian Church of Auckland, Henderson.
