Saying goodbye is always hard. 😢

It is with much sadness that we prepare to say goodbye to a much-loved member of Devonport Methodist who has taken that final journey home to be with her Lord.

Yumi Sano is the much-loved wife of Sam Welsh. Sam is a well-known part of the Devonport Community - many will know him as the friendly, familiar and kind soul who is always on hand to help with your trolley at New World. Others will know Sam and Yumi from many other community groups, such as Harmony Hall, the Ukulele Group, the Bunker and many, many, many others. For us, we know Sam and Yumi as two special people in our Church Family.

In March, Yumi started experiencing symptoms, which meant she ended up in the hospital. Shortly after that, the devastating discovery was made that she had Stage 4 cancer, which was not treatable. And, on Tuesday, 21 April 2026, Yumi's journey came to an end.

There will be a Celebration of her Life on Tuesday, 28 April at 2pm at Devonport Methodist Church (18 Owens Road, Devonport).

A friend has also set up a Givealittle page for donations to help Sam cover funeral costs and ease the financial burden he is facing during this incredibly difficult time, allowing him to grieve without the added stress of immediate financial pressure. Join us on Friday - a whole family event for young and old.

Have you ever wondered about what happened during Holy Week? Have you wondered about how loud the crowd was when Jesus rode into Jerusalem, or whether the disciples' feet smelt when Jesus washed their feet? Maybe you've even wondered what it was like in the Garden of Gethsemane on the night when Jesus was arrested?

Join us as we "wonder" our way through Jerusalem and the Easter Story. Our journey will take us through some wondering stations as we reflect on the last week of Jesus' life, the sadness of Good Friday and the Easter Surprise!

Friday 3 April - drop-in anytime between 2 & 4pm

Start at any time and move through at your own speed while reading the story as you go.

A whole family event - for young and old.

This Sunday!

It's time for Messy Church again - Easter version! Come and join us as we discover the Easter Story through crafts, songs and stories.

There will be a shared meal at the end, so bring a plate of food to share - sausages, drinks and ice cream will be provided.

And don't forget to bring a box to take your crafts home in.
Great for all ages.

Messy Church is a church for everyone! Young and not so young. We especially welcome those who may not feel comfortable attending a ‘normal’ church service and who may not yet belong to a church.

"It's called "Messy" because people's lives are messy... It's saying to everyone, come as you are!"

Join us for Mother's Day tomorrow at 10am

Nudge, nudge, hint, hint... tomorrow is Mother's Day (11 May)! If you haven't organised something to show your Mum (or another remarkable woman in your life) how special they are, you don't have long.

Tomorrow, we will celebrate the role of Mums and all the other women in our lives who support and nurture us. So join us for a special Family Service at 10 a.m.

It's a new year, and school is back. That means it is time for mainly music to start again!

So, come along tomorrow (13 February) to our first session for 2025.

10 am at Devonport Methodist Church (cnr Lake and Owens Roads). $5 per family per session. A great time for kids and parents to have fun together with music and movement. Morning tea (provided) and playtime - or talk time for the big people - follow the session.
