The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church.

The New Lynn Corps is a vibrant group of people who seek to serve their community as an expression of the love of God. Sunday worship services are at 10am and followed by a cup of tea. Our mission statement is "Caring for People, Transforming Lives, Reforming Society"

Church today looked alittle different as we recognised dads and father figures and the impact they make in our lives.

There was some give aways for the dads and we enjoyed eating the yummy Pizza after the bake off.

Yesterday at New Lynn Salvation Army we celebrated the life of a truely English gentleman. Major Ken Smith and Major Janee Sawyer led through the service of Major Melvin Impey. Major Kylee Tong read his service record.

Mels love for others showed through in His faithful service as an Officer. This continued as a retired Officer making an impact with his Court Ministry and the relationships he made there.
Mel will be sadly missed for his musical ability in the Auckland fellowship band and In the New Lynn band.

We will never forget Mels quick wit, and his love for His beautiful wife Jan whom he adored. Well done Good and faithful servant, you have entered into your final resting place.

Today at New Lynn Salvation Army we celebrated the life of Doreen Pearl Shaw.
Doreen knew and walked with her Saviour everyday. She had a big heart for others and had the gift of encouragement, and often seen in her letter writing.

Her legacy was seen today as her children gave tributes to their mum and spoke of their own faith. So Doreen we honour you this day, and know you will be missed by our Church family and the homeleague.
Well done good and faithful servant. Enter into your eternal rest.

Yesterday we celebrated the life of David Murray Irvine. MajorJanee Sawyer led the service and MajorJohn Politini gave a message which spoke of the life style that David had chosen when he became a soldier. This was such a transformation to the life he once had.

David also had given instructions on how he wanted Rebecca his daughter to speak which was shared in the first person.
Rebecca did an incredible job with so much animation, and it drew everyone into hearing the words of her Dad.

David will be sadly missed by the bowlers, and he also enjoyed attending our home league. But now you have entered into your eternal rest.

In our service today we were blessed to have Captain Ian Wells share God's word with us.
We were reminded again of building a firm foundation for our lives.

We also enjoyed the company of Majors Bev and Gavin Baxter.
We celebrate with them both with the amazing achievement of Gavin walking New Zealand for 'Marching for meals'.
Not forgetting Major Bev in her support to Gavin during these months.

Yesterday at Home league, Lieutenant Rose Hotene inspired us as she shared her testimony with us. Rose captured our hearts as she spoke of her transformation, from brokeness to total freedom, surrendering everything to God.

Then the call to Officership, where she was obedient to God's call on her life. Rose is now in her first appointment at Flatbush where she is connecting with families in her comunity.

On Friday we celebrated the life of Joan Osborne at New Lynn. Sadly due to ill health Joan was unable to attend worship for some time.
A moment to remember in the service was when Gerald, and his twin brother Michael played the 'spoons' to the song, When the Roll is called up Yonder. We know that Joan is free from suffering and is with Her Saviour.

We were blessed today with the ministry of Majors David and Denise Daly at New Lynn Corps. Our theme was every Yes matters to God.
